Alberni Valley Forestry Coalition

In December 2024, MLA and current Minister of Health for the Province of British Columbia, Josie Osborne, hosted leaders of the forest industry in the Alberni Valley to meet the new Minister of Forests, Ravi Parmar.

After discussions with local leaders, the Tseshaht First Nation took the initiative by inviting tenure holders, companies large and small, local and regional governments, First Nations and unions within the Alberni Valley to come together in the spirit of collaboration.

From the outset, this round table/working group quickly formed to become the Alberni Valley Forestry Coalition.

With a high focus on short, mid and long-term solutions, we spoke with a unified voice to ensure fibre flows and the survival of important businesses in the forestry sector in our region.

This is one of the only groups of its kind in the Province of British Columbia, where all of these industry leaders are coming together as one, focussed on solutions.
