🎓 CIMS Bursary Award – Supporting talent in the trades!

Congratulations to Cale Giese, a proud member of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Nation, on being awarded a $1,500 CIMS Bursary.

He's no stranger to CIMS as a Pipefitter, but Cale is also currently an A2 apprentice working toward his Boilermaker ticket. As a 3rd generation Boilermaker, he is proud to carry forward a strong family legacy in the trade and hopes to be a positive example for the next generation of Boilermakers and Indigenous apprentices.

🛠️ CIMS - Powered by our People👷‍♀️ Steady hands. Sharp skill. (even with an unexpected feathered observer!)

Here’s Jayden Dunn, a proud CIMS boilermaker welder in Sarnia, TIG welding using a mirror when a pigeon decided to make a surprise appearance on site.

The unexpected visitor made for a memorable moment and photo, but the team’s focus never wavered. Across both day and night shift, a crew of eight TIG welders completed 64 six-inch joints without a single repair. That kind of precision, consistency, and focus speaks for itself. Yeah Boilermakin’!

And for anyone wondering, no pigeons were harmed during the course of work. The bird was safely relocated back to its natural environment.

🚨 Project Success Alert 🚨 - Strong ex*****on. Positive client feedback.

The Cameco team shared that they were very impressed with the rigging plan, safety precautions, and communication throughout the process of a major lift on the pH Adjustment Tk2 refurbishment project. Our team safely cut out and removed the 20’ bridge and top course of a tank, from a very tight location, marking an important milestone for this phase of the project.

With strong coordination between Operations, CIMS, Site Services, CMT, and Safety, the lift was executed smoothly and efficiently.

🚨 Project Success Alert 🚨Lifting of the Manlift - Turns out lifting the machine that's meant to lift people takes a lot of planning (and skill!)

Our boilermaker crew successfully lifted a manlift to support a hatch installation. This non-routine, high-energy lift required careful planning, rigging checks, SME consultation, and strict safety controls, and the crew executed it flawlessly.

Shoutout to Al Guay, Mike Beauchamp, Ron Simon, Craig Seward, and Dave Graham for their focus and teamwork. I hear there may even be a promised team steak dinner? Well earned! 🥩🍻
