Gilakas’la! Wiksús
Last week we came together at Kwa’lilas Hotel for a meaningful cultural workshop led by Lucy Scow, HR Cultural Coordinator, creating space for conversation, reflection, and learning as a team.
Our work is guided by the House Posts of the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations, teachings that shape how we lead, how we partner, and how we work together across K’awat’si Economic Development Corporation.
During the workshop, Lucy brought these teachings to life through engaging discussions and real workplace scenarios, helping us reflect on how we can carry them into the way we communicate, make decisions, support one another, and work through challenges together.
Maya’xala – Respect One Another
Hutilala – Listen to One Another
Galgapolalła – Lift Each Other Up, Link Arms
Ga’walapa – Helping Each Other
These principles guide us on site, in the office, and in the community. It was a meaningful opportunity for us to learn together and deepen our understanding of how these teachings can continue to guide the way we show up for one another every day.
Gilakas’la to Lucy for sharing her knowledge and guiding such a thoughtful and engaging session with our team.
And the learning continues. We came together for another workshop yesterday, and we look forward to sharing more from that session soon.
Halakas mo-otsla (See you for now).
