☕✨ A Cup of History, Community & Generosity
– Celebrating Craft Week in Port Hood
This Craft Week, the Chestico Museum invites you to discover a remarkable Inverness County story through a special collaboration with the Cape Breton Tea Company.
Join us Thursday, June 4th for the launch of 1897 GenerosiTEA, a tea blend inspired by the life and legacy of Obediah E. Smith (1863–1934) — a Port Hood Island native whose journey in the tea industry became a story of entrepreneurship, resilience, and giving back.
After building a successful career with Morse’s Tea Company, Smith went on to purchase the company and used his success to support community initiatives throughout Inverness County, including the Inverness Hospital, Bayview Education Center, and other local projects.
Inspired by Obediah’s tea journey — including travelling to China with his new bride on a tea expedition — 1897 GenerosiTEA blends history, craft, and flavour through oolong tea, rooibos, and berry notes inspired by the blueberry fields around Port Hood.
