After an extensive career that includes over 12 years of dedication, leadership, and service with HRBG, Founder and Consultant Katherine Englander is officially retired as of June 1.

As the founder of HRBG and a long-time HR professional, Katherine has made a meaningful impact on countless individuals, organizations, and communities throughout her career. Her expertise, guidance, and commitment to helping others succeed have shaped not only our organization, but also many of the leaders and workplaces she has supported along the way.

While retirement marks the end of one chapter, we know it is not the end of Katherine's commitment to serving her community. We are excited to see what comes next as she embarks on this new journey and pursues a seat on municipal council.

Katherine, thank you for your vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication. Your influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

💙 Please join us in congratulating Katherine on her retirement and wishing her success in the journey ahead.

If Katherine has made an impact on your life or career, we'd love to hear your message in the comments below.

Many small and mid-sized businesses find themselves in a challenging position.

They're large enough to have complex people issues, compliance obligations, and leadership challenges, but not always large enough to justify a full-time HR department.

Others have a single HR professional wearing multiple hats: recruitment, employee relations, accommodations, investigations, policy development, compliance, performance management, and more.

And when that person is away, or when a particularly challenging issue arises, leaders are often left wondering where to turn.

That's where a Fractional HR Partner can make all the difference.

At The Human Resources Business Group, we become an extension of your team, providing flexible HR expertise exactly when you need it.

✔ Ongoing HR guidance and strategic support
✔ Employment law and compliance updates
✔ Leadership coaching and manager development
✔ Employee relations and workplace investigations
✔ Leave and accommodation management
✔ Recruitment and retention strategies
✔ Policy development and HR documentation
✔ Interim HR coverage and project-based support

The goal isn't simply to solve problems when they happen.

It's to help organizations stay ahead of challenges, reduce risk, strengthen leadership, and create workplaces where both businesses and employees can thrive.

Think of it as having an experienced HR leader in your corner, without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Whether you need support for a specific issue, coverage during a leave, or an ongoing HR partner, we can tailor a solution that fits your organization.

A proud full-circle moment for HRBG.

On May 30, 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming Bill Reid and his son, Cameron Reid, to speak at one of our events about the impact of coaching, mentorship, and support in personal and professional growth.

At the time, Cameron was already making a name for himself in junior hockey. Since then, his journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

🏒 Drafted 21st overall by the Nashville Predators in the first round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft
🏒 Named the 60th captain in Kitchener Rangers franchise history
🏒 Led the Rangers to an OHL Championship and J. Ross Robertson Cup in 2026
🏒 Helped guide the team to the Memorial Cup stage
🏒 Captained the Kitchener Rangers to a Memorial Cup victory on May 31, 2026

Cameron's story is a powerful reminder that success is rarely achieved alone. Behind every accomplishment are the coaches, mentors, family members, teammates, and supporters who help build confidence, resilience, and leadership along the way.

Congratulations, Cam, on all you have accomplished so far. We are grateful to have heard part of your story and look forward to continuing to cheer you on as your hockey journey unfolds.

Who has had the biggest impact on your personal or professional growth? Give them a shoutout in the comments.

When people issues get expensive, strong leadership prevents problems before they grow.

Most workplace problems do not start as crises.

They start as conversations leaders avoid.
Burnout that gets ignored.
Turnover that could have been prevented.
Conflict that keeps escalating.
Policies that only get reviewed after something goes wrong.

At HRBG, we help organizations move from reactive problem-solving to proactive people leadership.

Our team brings together HR professionals, legal experts, leadership coaches, professors, and health & safety specialists to help businesses build stronger workplaces with practical, customized support.

Here’s what working with us looks like:

✔ Free introductory call
✔ Complimentary 1-hour HR audit for new clients
✔ Flexible support without subscriptions
✔ Customized plans built around your business
✔ Legally sound and cost-effective guidance

Because strong organizations are not built by reacting late.

They are built by leading early.

What is one workplace issue you wish organizations addressed sooner?

Thank you to everyone who joined us for A Seat at the Table: The Future-Ready Leader.

We spent the evening together having honest conversations about leadership, workplace challenges, people decisions, and what it takes to lead effectively when expectations are high and uncertainty is constant.

This was not about theory.

It was about practical insight, real experiences, and frameworks people could take back to their workplaces immediately.

Here’s some of what we heard from attendees:

“It was a great value to have so many viewpoints.”

“I always find each HRBG Masterclass valuable with takeaways that I can apply directly to my business.”

“It’s nice to have a community where we can discuss how we can help teams and companies grow.”

“This was an astounding opportunity to learn and grow with like-minded people & professionals!”

That’s what this event was about.

Clarity.
Practical tools.
Confidence in your people decisions.

To everyone who attended: thank you for showing up, contributing to the discussion, and being open about the realities leaders are navigating right now.

And if you missed this one, we’ll be back this fall with more impactful programming for HR professionals, business owners, and organizational leaders.

If you attended, tell us in the comments:
What was your biggest takeaway from the evening?

05/20/2026

What makes someone truly “own a room” in today’s leadership environment?

It’s not always the loudest voice.

It’s presence. Confidence. Clarity under pressure.

At HRBG’s May Event, A Seat at the Table: The Future-Ready Leader, Chris McAuley will be speaking about how leaders can show up with influence and presence when it matters most.

If you lead people, teams, or a business, this conversation matters.

Last call to register.

Registration closes May 20.

Leadership is not getting easier.

Expectations are higher.
Decisions are more complex.
And leaders are being asked to navigate all of it while keeping teams engaged, businesses moving forward, and people supported.

That is exactly why we created A Seat at the Table: The Future-Ready Leader.

On May 21, leaders from government, business, legal, higher education, and HR are coming together for a candid conversation about what leadership actually looks like right now.

This is not theory.
It is practical insight, honest discussion, and real perspective from people leading through uncertainty every day.

If you lead people, culture, operations, or strategy, this conversation matters.
Join us at Sunningdale Golf & Country Club for an evening of:
• Cross-sector leadership insight
• Real conversation and practical takeaways
• Networking with leaders
• A plated dinner experience
• A closing keynote on communication, influence, and leadership presence

Seats are limited and registration closes tomorrow.
