JL Agronomics Ltd. is owned and operated by Justin Lavallee. Justin was born and raised in the Portage la Prairie area. He gradua
ted from the University of Manitoba in 1997 with a diploma in agriculture. He began his agronomy career with Munro Farm Supplies. In 1999, he joined Jonair where he continued to hone his agronomy skills and build solid relationships with growers. Justin started JL Agronomics in the fall of 2010. As an independent consultant, he was able to help key growers in every aspect of their crop production including the use of variable rate technology. As the business grew, Justin was seeing the need for an extra set of hands. In March of 2012, he hired David Chappellaz. David was born and raised on a mixed grain and beef operation in St. Claude, MB. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1999 with a diploma in agriculture majoring in field crops. David completed his Certified Crop Advisor certification in 2007. He has also achieved the designation of Technical Agrologist with the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists. Dave started his agronomy career in 2002 and spent time working for a couple of independent retails before moving to Cargill to manage the agronomy program at the Elm Creek location. The 3rd addition to the team came in the spring of 2014. Kassandra Downs grew up on a farmyard in Homewood, Manitoba and has always had a strong interest in agriculture. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Agronomy Major) in the spring of 2011. Throughout her university career, Kassandra completed various internships with several companies including Monsanto, Cargill, Dow AgroSciences and Bayer CropScience. She spent the year following her graduation travelling and worked on a couple of large grain farms in Western Australia. Upon her return home, Kassandra completed a year contract with Dow AgroSciences as a Territory Sales Rep and worked on another farm in Saskatchewan through the 2013 harvest season. During the winter of 2013/14, Kassandra travelled throughout South America.
