Community Safety Reminder: Secure Your Bicycle

Lions Security Incorporated is reminding shoppers and visitors to properly secure bicycles when visiting public shopping areas.

A recent bicycle theft concern in the South Hill Mall area shows how quickly an unsecured bicycle can be taken. Based on information provided at the time, the bicycle was left outside while the individuals briefly entered a nearby business, and it was taken within a very short period.

We understand that this is upsetting for anyone affected, especially visitors to our city. Theft prevention works best when everyone takes simple precautions:

Secure your bicycle with a strong lock, avoid leaving it unattended without protection, report theft immediately to police, and notify security or property management so the matter can be documented.

🇨🇦 Canada’s First SMS Blaster Arrests: A Wake-Up Call for Cybersecurity and Public Prince Albert Community Safety

A major cybersecurity breakthrough has just unfolded in Canada. Authorities have arrested three individuals in Toronto for operating a sophisticated “SMS blaster” device—marking the first known case of its kind in the country.

This development is more than just another cybercrime headline—it is a clear signal that cyber-enabled threats are evolving rapidly and moving closer to everyday citizens in physical environments.

What Happened?

The investigation, known as Project Lighthouse, uncovered a mobile cybercrime operation that used advanced technology to impersonate legitimate cellular towers.

These devices—commonly referred to as SMS blasters—were reportedly installed in vehicles and driven across parts of Toronto, targeting unsuspecting mobile users.

Authorities revealed that:

Tens of thousands of mobile devices were affected
Over 13 million network disruptions were recorded
Victims’ phones were tricked into connecting to fake networks
Access to legitimate services—including 911 emergency calls—was temporarily disrupted

This was not just fraud—it was a direct threat to public safety.

How SMS Blaster Attacks Work

An SMS blaster acts like a rogue cell tower. When activated:

Nearby phones automatically connect to it (due to stronger signal)

The attacker gains the ability to send mass text messages

Messages appear to come from trusted institutions (banks, government agencies)

Victims are redirected to fake websites designed to steal:

Banking credentials

Personal data

Login information

This technique is known as “smishing” (SMS phishing) and is highly effective because it bypasses traditional telecom safeguards.

Why This Case Matters

This case is a turning point for Canada for several reasons:

1. Cybercrime Is Now Mobile and Physical

Attackers are no longer confined to remote hacking—they are driving through cities, targeting people in real time.

2. Mass-Scale Exploitation

Unlike traditional scams, SMS blasters can hit thousands of devices simultaneously, dramatically increasing impact.

3. Public Safety Risk

The disruption of mobile networks—even briefly—can block access to emergency services, which raises serious national security concerns.

4. Trust Exploitation

The attacks succeed by impersonating trusted brands, making even cautious users vulnerable.

What This Means for Businesses and Security Providers

For organizations—especially those in security, cybersecurity, and public safety sectors—this incident reinforces a critical reality:

Security is no longer just physical or digital—it is fully integrated.

Companies must now prepare for hybrid threats that combine:

Physical presence (vehicles, devices)

Cyber exploitation (phishing, data theft)

Social engineering (trust manipulation)

This is exactly where modern security firms must evolve.

Key Lessons for the Public

To stay protected:

Do not click links in unexpected text messages

Access websites directly (type the URL yourself)

Do not share personal or banking information via SMS

Be cautious—even if the message appears legitimate

Law enforcement continues to urge vigilance as similar tactics are already being used globally.

The Bigger Picture

This incident shows that Canada is not immune to advanced cyber threats—it is now part of a global pattern of increasingly sophisticated attacks.

From Toronto to cities worldwide, cybercriminals are:

Leveraging mobility

Exploiting trust

Targeting entire populations at once

Final Thought

For security leaders, businesses, and governments, the message is clear:

The future of security lies in the fusion of cybersecurity, intelligence, and physical operations.

Organizations that fail to adapt will be exposed.

Those that evolve will lead.

SCAM ALERT: PROTECTING YOUR MONEY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION IN PRINCE ALBERT

Financial scams are increasing across Canada—and Prince Albert is not exempt.

At Lions Security Incorporated, we are seeing a growing number of reports involving fraudulent text messages, emails, and phone calls targeting both individuals and businesses.

These scams are becoming more sophisticated—and more convincing.

HOW THESE SCAMS WORK

Fraudsters often pretend to be trusted organizations such as banks, including TD Bank.

They may:

Send text messages claiming suspicious activity on your account
Call pretending to be bank representatives
Email links that look official but are designed to steal your information

Their goal is simple:
Get access to your personal or financial information

IMPORTANT REMINDER

Your bank will NEVER:

Ask for your password or PIN
Request full account details by phone or text
Demand immediate action or payment under pressure

If you receive a message or call asking for this information:

It is very likely a scam

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

If you receive a suspicious message or call:

STOP

Do not click links or respond to the message

VERIFY

Contact your bank directly using their official number

DO NOT SHARE

Never give out personal or banking information

IF YOU HAVE BEEN TARGETED OR COMPROMISED

Take action immediately:

Contact your bank right away
Report suspicious emails to: [email protected]
Monitor your accounts for unusual activity
Inform family members—especially seniors who may be more vulnerable

A COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY

Scams do not only affect individuals—they impact:

Families
Businesses
The broader community

At Lions Security Incorporated, we believe security goes beyond physical presence.

It includes:

Awareness
Prevention
Education
FINAL WORD

If something feels off, trust your instincts.

Fraudsters rely on urgency, fear, and confusion.
Taking a moment to verify can protect your finances and identity.

THIS HAPPENED AGAIN – PRINCE ALBERT BUSINESSES

April 9, 2026

Most people don’t see what businesses deal with every day…

But this is the reality.

Just two days after a serious incident, an individual who had already been removed and banned from a restaurant returned again.

Staff reported the situation as it escalated:

• Yelling at customers
• Refusing to leave
• Using profane language

Lions Security responded.

What happened next is what many never see.

Despite being asked to leave, the individual became increasingly aggressive.

To avoid escalation, security maintained distance and continued to monitor the situation while preparing to involve police.

Then—

The individual approached the security vehicle and punched the window.

A split-second difference…
If that window had been open, this could have turned into a direct physical assault.

THIS IS THE REALITY

This is what businesses and frontline staff are dealing with:

• Repeat offenders returning again and again
• Unpredictable and escalating behaviour
• Real safety risks in everyday situations

And still…

âś” We choose de-escalation first
âś” We stay professional under pressure
âś” We act within the law
âś” We protect staff, customers, and the public

WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T SEE

Security is not just “standing there.”

It’s:

• Reading situations in real time
• Making fast decisions to prevent harm
• Managing risk before it turns into something worse

IMPORTANT

This post is shared for community awareness only:

• No personal information is disclosed
• No assumptions should be made
• The matter is subject to legal process

On April 7, 2026, our team responded to a trespassing incident at a local restaurant where Lions Security provides contracted services. The situation highlights the growing need for professional security presence in commercial areas.

What Happened During the Incident

Security personnel were called to address individuals who were not authorized to remain on private property.

As part of standard operating procedure, individuals were approached respectfully and asked to leave. Most complied without issue.

However, one individual refused to leave and became confrontational.

To ensure safety and proper handling, police were contacted. During the interaction, the individual escalated the situation and engaged in inappropriate behaviour toward security personnel.

Law enforcement attended shortly after and took appropriate action. The individual was arrested and formally restricted from returning to the property.

Good morning Prince Albert, and Happy Easter Monday.

We want to bring an important community safety update to your attention.

There has been a noticeable increase in scam calls, phishing emails, and fraudulent messages targeting individuals and businesses across our region.

These scams are becoming more sophisticated—often appearing to come from trusted institutions like BMO Bank of Montreal or other legitimate organizations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Scammers may:

Spoof phone numbers (caller ID looks real)
Send emails that look official
Request urgent action to create panic
Ask for sensitive information (banking, passwords, verification codes)
PROTECT YOURSELF – FOLLOW THE “STOP, CALL, VERIFY” RULE
STOP
Do NOT click links
Do NOT share personal or financial information
Do NOT act on pressure or urgency
CALL
Contact your bank directly using a trusted number
Use the number on the back of your debit/credit card
Or visit the official website (e.g., BMO.com)
VERIFY
Confirm if the request is legitimate before taking action
If unsure, speak to a trusted advisor or your bank representative
REMEMBER

If you receive:

An unexpected phone call
A suspicious text or email
A request for screen sharing or login details

End the conversation immediately.
Do NOT engage.

Even if it looks real—it could be fake.

LIONS SECURITY PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY

At Lions Security Incorporated, we are seeing an increase in social engineering tactics—where criminals manipulate individuals into giving away information.

This is no longer just a “tech issue”—
It is a real security threat affecting businesses and the community daily.

COMMUNITY FIRST

If you are unsure about any message or call:

âś” Speak to your bank directly
âś” Reach out to a trusted professional
âś” Report suspicious activity

It is always better to verify than to recover from fraud.

FINAL WORD

Scammers rely on speed, fear, and confusion.
Your best defense is awareness, patience, and verification.

STAY ALERT. STAY SAFE. PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION.

FROM DATA TO REALITY: WHAT HAPPENED TODAY IN PRINCE ALBERT

Yesterday, we shared what security operations looked like across Prince Albert in March 2026.

Today 6th April 2026, we saw it again—live.

This is how those numbers translate into real situations on the ground.

TODAY’S INCIDENTS – WHAT BUSINESSES DEAL WITH IN REAL TIME

At a restaurant location, an individual was found sleeping inside the premises.

Security attended and handled the situation professionally. The individual was asked to leave and complied without issue.

Shortly after, two individuals known for prior aggressive behavior approached the area. Upon noticing security presence, they left.

However, when they believed security was no longer present, one returned and re-entered the premises.

When approached, the individual became verbally aggressive and used inappropriate language toward security.

The situation was professionally de-escalated, and the individual exited without physical confrontation.

At a separate location, a previously banned individual returned and acted aggressively toward security staff.

The individual attempted to spit in the direction of the officer. The officer avoided contact and maintained full professionalism, directing the individual to leave.

No escalation. No injuries.

THIS IS THE REALITY BEHIND THE NUMBERS

What you saw yesterday:

âś” 800+ trespassing interactions
âś” Multiple disruptions managed
âś” Zero injuries

What you are seeing today:

âś” Repeat offenders returning
âś” Situations testing staff and security daily
âś” Continuous need for presence and response

WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Not force.

Not confrontation.

Professional, controlled security presence.

Every situation today was handled with:

âś” Calm communication
âś” Respectful enforcement
âś” Situational awareness
âś” Zero escalation

WHY THIS MATTERS

Without active security:

These situations escalate
Businesses lose control of their environments
Staff and customers are put at risk

With professional security:

Situations are managed early
Environments remain stable
Operations continue without disruption
FINAL NOTE

This is not occasional.

This is daily.

And it is exactly why security is no longer optional in today’s business environment.
