OMINECA FOREST RESOURCE SERVICES LTD, an all phase timber development company serving the forest, oil and gas industries in both the private and public sectors since 2005, has immediate openings within the Prince George office for the above named positions.

Omineca Forest Resource Services Ltd is a forest consulting company that operates out of Prince George in the northern forests of British Columbia. The Companies services are mainly to develop cut blocks for harvesting. This includes timber reconnaissance, boundary marking, road location and survey, engineered cost estimates, riparian assessment and marking, ecological survey and description, bridge plans, wildlife habitat assessment, and timber cruising.
Living out of RV travel Trailers or logging camps for up to 10 days at a time, we work in remote locations in the out doors in all weather, including extreme weather from time to time. The work place is rugged, brushy, and steep. In the summer, if it were not for the black flies holding you down, the mosquito's would up and carry you off. Wild life encounters are common. We try not to hurt the bears, but the squirrels can be very aggressive. Driving and walking are the two most common activities for work site access. ATV's, snowmobiles, helicopters and boats are often used. The work is physical and can be tough. People who are successful at this kind of job enjoy the lifestyle, embrace physical and mental challenge and have a love of the out of doors, all year round.
POSITION SUMMARY: Senior Resource Technician and Junior Resource Technician are responsible for forest development activities including road and cut block layout, timber cruising, and ecological and riparian assessments in a safe, timely, cost effective and professional manner. These positions are generally field and some office duties. Potential employees should have at a level appropriate for the position applied for:

A broad understanding of and experience in forestry practices and operational forest development.
Be registered with, or eligible to be registered with, the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals.
Multi-phase timber development experience in British Columbia.
Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

And possess:

Experience and enthusiasm for forestry and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
A professional, friendly, team oriented, teachable personality.
An elevated level of care, initiative, and perseverance.
Ability to work independently under limited direct supervision.

Remuneration and benefits:

Full time, hourly position with overtime paid after 8 hours.
Competitive remuneration.
Annual bonus program.
