A huge thank you to everyone involved! Val was overwhelmed with the response and enthusiasm. We raised over $7300 total for Riverside Foundation for Health Care. The vehicle high bid and winner was Nicole Therrien. She was tearing up the roads before winter and has now put it away until spring.
When she retired in 1987, Val Grant bought herself a Nissan Micra. As she spent her winters out west, it stayed tucked away until she returned each spring. So at 33 years old it only had 138,000kms on it.
At 98 years young, Val decided it was time to hang up her driving gloves. Instead of just selling her car, she auctioned it off in October in benefit of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care with all funds to be directed to the Rainy River Health Centre.
The car was won by Nicole Therrien for $2,600. Val's giving spirit was infectious and inspired four local business's; Kreger Sales & Service, Tait Brothers Contracting LTD, Brielmann Agriculture Ltd. and Northend Farms Limited to donate $1,000 each towards the cause in her honour. In addition a $50 and a $500USD individual donation came in, bringing the grand total of funds raised to $6,650 CAD and $500 USD!

Thank you so much to Val and everyone that donated in her honour for supporting health care close to home!
