General Propane Knowledge
Propane tanks only get filled to 80%, the reason for this is that the liquid propane at the bottom of the tank is constantly bubbling and boiling off when the ambient temperature is above -42 degrees C. This creates the v***r at the top of your propane tank that all your appliances need to run. At – 42 or below you can pour propane into a bucket and walk down the street and pour it out at the other end, it won’t v***rize.
There are some common misconceptions with Propane and what happens when the weather gets cold. Some of the misconceptions include propane gelling off, the tank being too low, or bad propane causing issues with your appliances. If the ambient temperature is -42 or below, your tank will not v***rize fast enough to keep up with the demand from your appliances. When this happens it doesn’t matter what the % in the tank is, tanks can be at 20% and not make v***r but also tanks that are at 80% can have issues as well. When this occurs, you need to get heat to the bottom part of your propane tank where the liquid sits. By doing this it will heat the propane in the area of the heat so that the propane excites and starts to bubble and boil which creates the v***r everything needs to run.
