Last year at the ripe age of 45 I started learning a new craft .
I haven’t been able to train as much as I’d like to , but I show up anyway. So many life lessons in this art. And it’s been very humbling.

I competed in my first tournament today . Wow! I Was nervous as hell. Did everything I could to stay calm but I’m not sure if I’ve ever felt that kind of adrenaline. Played all kinds of competitive sports . But this is different .

Showed up and left with a medal . I’m proud of myself. For trying something new.

Thank you to my coach and all the people at for your teaching and support !

Here’s what most people get wrong about change: They try to fix their behaviors while keeping their old identity intact.You say ‘I want to be healthy’ but still see yourself as someone who’s ‘bad with food.’ You say ‘I want to be successful’ but still identify as someone who ‘never follows through.’Self-sabotage isn’t a character flaw - it’s your subconscious mind protecting an outdated version of yourself. Your behaviors will always align with who you believe you are!Stop trying to force new habits onto an old identity. Instead, ask yourself: ‘What would someone who already has what I want believe about themselves? How would they see themselves?’Change your identity first. Your behaviors will follow.”Change happens at a CORE LEVEL not at the surface.

We spend so much energy perfecting our masks that we forget who we are underneath them.

The “always positive” person who never allows themselves to feel disappointed. The “go-to” person who says yes to everything while their own needs go unmet. The “strong one” who carries everyone else’s weight but never asks for support.

These aren’t character flaws - they’re survival strategies we learned when being ourselves felt unsafe. But here’s what I’ve realized: the very masks we created to protect us are now the barriers keeping us from the connection we crave and lives we long for.

Your authentic self isn’t a performance. It doesn’t need to be “on” all the time. It doesn’t need to earn love through perfection or usefulness.

Today, notice when you feel the pressure to put on a mask. In that moment, ask yourself: “What would the truest expression of myself do here?”

The world doesn’t need another perfect person. It needs more real ones.
