Day 1 of the Reimagining Non-Profits Conference with , and Sask Nonprofit Partnership is underway!

Can't wait for amazing sessions with community leaders across the province.

(The only thing that would make it better is if Luther College had Diet Pepsi, instead of Diet Coke... but you can't have everything.)

Guess what? I'm taking vacation for the first time in four years. This is a big day, and while I've already slipped up a bit (I only worked 30 minutes this morning), I did take the meeting in my pajamas.

For a lot of folks with complex relationships to work, vacation can be hard and stressful. Lots of feelings are rushing through my heart, but I'm glad to have support from the team at who have shared the importance of role-modeling healthy work/life balance.

This next couple weeks is gonna be tough, but you also might get to see me out of my work clothes, and become more familiar with my (infamous?) Neopets onesie.

Share any tips with me in the comments about how you stay disconnected on vacation!

Excited to present at the conference soon about community engagement practices!

Still looking for a New Years Resolution? Consider making it "making people mad during AGMs about how much I know Roberts Rules of Order"...

Come to my Roberts Rules of Order 101 Workshop happening on January 11th! (And donate to the Artesian while you're at it!)

So many non-profits use Robert's Rules of Order, but does anybody actually teach you how to use them properly? (And how to stop using them?)

What a phenomenal opportunity! Check this out!

On March 5th, we hosted a session for Councillor Dan LeBlanc that brought 2SLGBTQIAP+ people together in our city via Zoom to discuss what concrete actions they thought were possible for the City of Regina to take in order to more meaningfully protect and support 2SLGBTQIAP+ people. This event was part of our Imagining a Progressive Future for Regina series.

The results of this session were compiled by our team and provided to Councillor LeBlanc. Councillor LeBlanc took these results and put forward a Notice of Motion in celebration of Pride month to Regina City Council.

This Motion, which will be debated on June 15th 2022, calls for City Administration to prepare a report that explores a wide range of tangible actions that could contribute to a more inclusive city for all people.

If you're interested in seeing the full motion, you can read it at https://ivydean.ca/mn22-4.

Interested in speaking to support the motion? Submit your interest to the City Clerk's office by 1pm on June 9th 2022 by emailing [email protected].

If you're looking for help in writing your submission or speaking at Council, get in touch with us at [email protected].

I'm proud to be the Chair of Briarpatch Magazine, where a group of volunteers support an incredible team of staff on write and produce both a national magazine and a Saskatchewan-focused publication focusing on progressive issues and workers' rights.

The Sask Dispatch is raising funds to be able to pay their Editor a full-time salary. This will go so far in terms of offering meaningful coverage of issues facing marginalized communities in Saskatchewan. Above all, the Sask Dispatch is free!

If you're able to donate, please consider giving.

Since 2018, the Sask Dispatch, the locally-oriented sibling publication to Briarpatch, has supplemented Briarpatch’s national reporting and analysis with Saskatchewan-centric grassroots journalism. It's a vital corrective to the right’s grip on the mainstream media narratives in the province, bu...

Did you hear about this seminar happening later today with the University of Regina Q***r Initiative?

DREAMING OF A QUEERED WORKPLACE

Workplaces have pretty consistently been unsafe places for q***r and trans people, and while EDI professionals have been slowly working to introduce 2SLGBTQ+ equity and inclusion practices into the corporate world, there remains so many opportunities for us to "q***r" the workplace and how we manage the people within them. Jacq Brasseur has a decade-long history in leading q***r and trans teams, and has spent even longer dreaming of what a truly q***r workplace looks like and feels like for the people who work in it.

Happening today at 2pm CST on Zoom!

Register at https://ivydean.ca/urqi

The University of Regina Q***r Initiative is the University of Regina 's Q***r & Trans Faculty and Staff group. This event is part of their Out on the Prairie Speaker Series.
