Have you heard of the term ‘Underused Housing Tax’?? On Jun 9/22 the Underused Housing Tax Act became law.

If you have a corporation that owns residential property you need to file a form with CRA by April 30, 2023. Failure to file this form can lead to penalties if $10,000 per property……

The Underused Housing Tax (UHT) is a national, annual 1-per-cent tax on the value of non-resident, non-Canadian owned residential real estate that is considered to be vacant or underused.
