Global Transportation Hub

Global Transportation Hub Fueling trade through world-class rail and highways, competitive real estate, and superior service. Saskatchewan, Canada.

The Global Transportation Hub (GTH) is western Canada’s newest, fastest-growing inland port authority. The GTH is Saskatchewan’s commitment to developing a supply chain, logistics and transportation infrastructure that enhances access and connectivity from coastal ports to global markets. Strategically located within Canada’s Asia Pacific Gateway, the GTH is a financially self-sustaining entity of

the Government of Saskatchewan. As a statutory corporation, it is governed by its own legislation making it responsible for its development, maintenance and regulation of its 1,800-acre footprint. Operating much like a municipality, the GTH is responsible for all operating aspects from community planning to enforcement. The GTH brings transportation needs together with CP Rail’s newest intermodal complex and the national highway system co-located with large distribution centres, shippers and Saskatchewan producers – all in one key transportation link. Unique to the GTH, its internal road infrastructure is highway grade, four-lane undivided with large shoulders and designed specifically for movement of large, long-combination vehicles. The GTH is tailored specifically for companies and organizations in transportation and logistics; warehousing and distribution; light manufacturing/processing; importing/exporting opportunities; and commercial services. The inland port is home to nine clients including Loblaw’s one million square foot distribution centre and CP Rail’s 300-acre intermodal complex.

Several members of the GTH team spent the morning of December 12 assembling boxes for the Regina Food Bank’s Hampers of Hope campaign. Only with ongoing support from the community can important agencies like the Food Bank fight against hunger and feed hope in our communities. From sorting and distributing or hosting special events, volunteers are essential in making a difference. For those who are unable to donate their time, please consider a financial contribution. As added incentive, Nutrien is matching the first $500,000 of cash donations to food banks across Saskatchewan! The campaign ends at the end of the month so if you haven’t donated yet, please consider helping feed people in need and consider sharing this message so we can educate others on the importance of addressing hunger issues.🙏

Congrats to everyone involved in this year's edition of the Canadian Mental Health Association's Ride Don’t Hide. The GTH was proud to be the venue sponsor for the second year in a row. We want to thank our many clients who also got involved as sponsors including Loblaw, Morguard, Slinkemo and Brightenview. With 284 participants in the ride/walk, and over $78,000 raised, it was a huge success!

There will soon be more heads at the Loblaw Distribution Centre – and not just in the lettuce aisle. Canada’s largest grocery retailer is planning to add a number of jobs at its Regina distribution centre located at the GTH in order to keep pace with increased volume moving through the facility. According to Regina distribution centre manager Tim Buchinski, demand over the past 12 months has prompted his management team to take a closer look at their long-term workforce needs. It was great to see so many people at the GTH this past weekend refreshing their motorcycle driving skills. We were happy to provide a safe place for the Saskatchewan Safety Council and Regina HOG Chapter #9252 group to undertake this important safety program.

Thanks to for their article this month on the Global Transportation Hub: "Act local, think global."

The GTH's central location, FTZ designation and easy access to rail & road transportation all contribute to a lower total landed cost for shippers - key advantages of the inland port business model.

Regina's Global Transportation Hub is a model of inland port business strategy There are elements that, once put together, become something greater than th

Thank you to those Saskatchewan MLAs who took time to tour the GTH this afternoon & meet with some of our clients like Loblaw and CP Rail. Do you know the Regina Loblaw warehouse and distribution centre is 1 million sq ft and employs hundreds of people representing 47 different cultures? And CP's intermodal operation at the GTH is designed to move some 250,000 containers annually - more than five times the capacity of their previous downtown Regina facility. We're proud to be contributing to the provincial economy by fueling trade with world-class rail and highways, competitive real estate, and superior service.

Matthew Austin’s interest in commercial vehicles dates back many years so it’s no surprise his career path has led him to Saskatchewan as a new recruit with the province’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch (CVE). His enthusiasm is not only evident when he speaks about his new job; but by the grin he was sporting while undergoing on-the-job training this past July at the Global Transportation Hub.
