How amazing would it be to spend less time training, following up and hand holding new employees?

For important roles, it is better to hire someone who has experience, knowledge and expertise for a specific role. Rather than a generalist, or an entry-level employee who comes with a lower pay rate.

👉The former will be more expensive upfront but will prove their worth quickly because they have been down the road before.

👉The latter will cost you more time, frustration for your team while the new guy “gets up to speed”, and turnover if you didn’t happen across a unicorn.

👍My advice if you want to grow with less pain 👇👇👇👇
If it’a a specific role and you don’t have the time or resources to properly build out the job and training with proven systems and processes, then hire the person who already knows how to do the job.

If its a general role (admin, labourer, cash, retail) then you are safe to hire a general employee and they can gain experience while they work.

You don’t want to pay people to “troubleshoot” or “trial and error” when it really matters.

Confused if you’re an introvert or an extrovert? It’s not as black and white as you may think.
Extroversion, along with other personality indicators, falls on a scale. You might find yourself right in the middle or heavily on one end or the other.
Either way it’s helpful to know what you need to recharge, decompress or gain energy and how you can use this information to shape your ideal work environment.

One of the first companies I worked for felt like this. You could tell we were on a sinking ship; we were getting a bad name in the industry from poor business practices, our systems were non existent, there was zero training or retention incentives, I loved my manager but the owner was arrogant and couldn’t have cared less about his staff. After 30+ years the multiple locations shut down.

You can push through with poor leadership for a long time, but in that time the owner never managed to build something of value any more than the discounted liquidation of their assets. Which is both sad and completely avoidable.

How do you avoid building a sinking ship? Here are the top 3 ways:
1. Consistent, reliable and reoccurring revenue.
2. Scalable systems and processes.
3. Strong financial controls.

You can be whoever you want to be. It’s time to level up that vision board and think about who you are when you look back in 20 years.

Here’s some questions to get you thinking:
- How would your friends describe you?
- How would your coworkers describe you?
- Who are other people you want to be like?
- How do you treat those you love?
- How do you treat those you dislike?
- What kind of first impression do you make?
- What kind of boss would you be?
