From Student to Rehab Therapist: Worth Every Moment

After what felt like the longest two years, the official grades were finally released and with them came a moment I’ll never forget. Once again, I earned a place on the President’s Honour List, three out of four semesters. Seeing that “congratulations, you made it” email hit my inbox felt surreal. It was one of those quiet, powerful moments where everything you’ve worked for suddenly feels real....

Life with a Dual Chamber Pacemaker: From Doubt to Diploma

Well… it’s official. School is done. Now it’s just a waiting game for final grades to be posted. And somehow, in the middle of all of this, I’ve landed a full-time job as a rehab therapist. What a whirlwind these last two years have been. It all started in July 2024 when I made a decision that felt equal parts bold and terrifying, I applied to the Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapist Assistant program....

Life With a Dual Chamber Pacemaker

As I finish up my third week of my final semester of school, my focus is split, but intentional. I’m concentrating hard on finishing strong academically, while also trying to find consistency again with my training. Balance is the goal, even when life feels anything but balanced. Most days, that means getting up at the crack of dawn to squeeze in a workout before heading to placement....

Life With a Dual Chamber Pacemaker: Another semester done — and what a journey ✨

The last three months have been a whirlwind: balancing school, a part-time job, training, motherhood, marriage, and squeezing in baking whenever I could. If you had asked me in September if I thought I’d survive this semester, my answer would’ve been no. This was my heaviest semester yet — mostly group presentations and assignments — and once again I carried the workload of 3–4 people....

On Saturday, August 9th, I found myself standing on the shore of Lake Ontario, ready to take on the Niagara Subaru Sprint Triathlon — a 500m swim, 25K bike, and 5K run. This wasn’t just another race for me. I’ve done this event for the last five years and it’s one of my favorites. But this year was different. This year, I was racing with a dual chamber pacemaker — a constant reminder of how far I’ve come, and how much I refuse to let it hold me back....

First race of the season International Distance Duathlon and I finished 3rd overall in the event and 2nd in my AG. Still lots of room for improvement but nice to walk away with some hardware! 💪🏼

This year has been a whirlwind one filled with challenges, learning curves, and a few tough decisions. I originally had my heart set on racing Ironman 70.3 Musselman this July. It was going to be my big comeback, my moment to prove to myself that I could take on anything especially life with a dual chamber pacemaker. But life, as it tends to do, had other plans....

Thursday, April 17, 2025, officially marked the end of my second semester. However, I had to wait until today — April 28th — for the college to release our final grades. I had a feeling I had done well, even though at the beginning of the semester, I told my family, "I'm not going to do very well." To my amazement, as I was scrolling through my course history, I noticed a folder labeled "Honours and Awards." When I opened it, there it was — my name listed on the President's Honour List at Seneca College for Winter 2025!...
