Meanwhile I’m over here trying to intentionally create little moments of joy in my week...

Pretty sure I won’t have to teach this girl that joy is a superpower. She appears to have figured it out. She’s like, “Have you considered spinning around at an unsafe speed until you can’t walk straight?”

Honestly, she might be onto something.
Kids are so good at finding joy without needing it to be productive, useful or scheduled into the calendar.

So that’s my Friday reminder from the 8-year-old: find the thing that makes you ridiculously happy and do a little more of it.
Preferably something that doesn’t make you throw up. 😂🩷

We could not be more proud of this boy. 🩷

Watching all of his hard work, persistence and absolute love for small engines pay off today was pretty incredible.

But standing there watching him confidently explain what he knows, answer the judges’ questions and see the pride on his face, I also had one of those little moments where I thought, this is why I built my life the way I did.

Running a business for yourself is not always the easy option.

There have been long nights, hard seasons, pivots, mistakes, learning curves and plenty of moments where I wondered what on earth I was doing.

But I wanted a business that fit around the life I wanted to actually be present for.

Not someday.

Now.

Being able to show up for days like this, watch my kids discover what they love and actually have the flexibility to be there for it is a huge part of what success looks like to me now.

The awards are amazing, and he absolutely earned every one of them.

But getting to stand there and watch him become more confident in something he genuinely loves?

That’s the good stuff.

And it’s a pretty lovely reminder of why I chose to build differently in the first place. 🎉

Nothing adds 6 new tabs to a mom’s brain faster than opening one school email.

One email.

Now I need $12, a signed form, something weird from around the house by tomorrow and to remember that October 7th is apparently VERY important. 😂

And obviously I won’t write any of it down because I’ve confidently told myself, “I’ll remember.”

Narrator: she will not remember. Please tell me other moms are running this same highly sophisticated system. 🤣

I know this because I’ve done it. 💚

I spent years building, pushing, saying yes, exhausting myself, working around my kids, and telling myself I’d slow down once I got to the next stage.

But there is always a next stage. After more than 10 years in business, I’ve learned that freedom doesn’t magically come with working for yourself. You have to intentionally create it.

For me, that has meant better boundaries, better systems, knowing when to put work down, and making room for the life I was building all of this for in the first place.

I still work hard. Life is still full. But now I make sure there’s joy in it too. ❤️

Both things can be true.

I can miss my kids like crazy when I’m away AND thoroughly enjoy eating where I want, wandering around a new city at my own pace, and seeing the things I actually want to see.

No negotiating, snack emergencies or anyone asking how much longer. 😂

For a long time, I think moms were made to feel guilty for admitting we enjoy the parts of life that are just ours.

I don’t anymore. I love being their mom. I love coming home to them. And I also really love that the life I’ve built still gives me opportunities to travel, work, explore and be me outside of motherhood.

Then I get to come home ridiculously excited to see them again. That feels pretty joyful to me. 🩷

I didn’t build a business for 10+ years just to stay busy forever!

I was building a life that felt like mine.
The garden, the acreage, the animals, the kids running around outside, and these quiet little moments in between the chaos.

As a mom entrepreneur and business owner, it’s so easy to get caught up in the next goal, the next client, the next thing on the list.
But this is the part I dreamed about.

A life with more space, more presence, and more joy woven into the everyday.

It’s not always easy, and it definitely doesn’t always look polished.

But it feels like mine. This is your reminder that the life you’re building gets to actually feel good to live in. 🩷
