Three versions of Color Study Block 2!

This week we’re looking at how color and value can change the relationship between the center square and the shapes around it.

All three versions use the same block construction, but each has a different feeling. In one, the center square stands out. In another, the colors are closer in value and the shapes feel more connected. And with a different combination, your eye might be drawn to the frame first instead.

I really like seeing these variations together. There isn’t one right way to arrange the colors, and sometimes the combinations you wouldn’t have thought to try are the most interesting.

As you choose fabrics for your own Block 2, think about what you’d like to emphasize. The center? The frame? Or the way the colors move between them?
