This iconic Norseman Aircraft, has been on static display in the Suncor Building lobby since 1984. Crystal Services was chosen to lower and remove this priceless artifact for its move to the Hangar Flight Museum.
We used a combination of chainfalls with individual load cells attached to the existing overhead building structure to horizontally move and lower the Aircraft to the ground. By using our wireless load cells, were able to receive real-time live data for every load point imposed on the building structure as we drifted the plane down and towards the wall opening.
Once the Aircraft was safely lowered, we used our Maeda mini crane (running on electric power) to assist The Hanger Flight Museum staff with the disassembly of the wings. We then removed the Aircraft from inside the building using our Palfinger picker truck lifting the Aircraft from the street level and loaded it onto transport trucks.
This work was completed over one weekend, including loading the Aircraft for its delivery to the Hangar Flight Museum and its eventual restoration.
Special thanks to the Rope-A-Dope Windows team for their onsite expertise in rope access to reach the difficult rigging locations and assistance with attaching and removing our Chainfalls.
Its always a pleasure to work for great customers like Brookfield Properties
