Canada has announced a one-time immigration initiative aimed at supporting smaller and rural communities facing ongoing labour shortages.
Through the In-Canada Workers Initiative, IRCC will accelerate the transition of up to 33,000 temporary residents to Permanent Residence (PR) between 2026 and 2027.

π–π‘πšπ 𝐭𝐑𝐒𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬:

β€’This is not a new application stream.
β€’It is a processing acceleration of existing PR applications already in the system.
β€’Applies to individuals who have already applied for PR
β€’Focused on workers in rural and smaller communities
Includes applicants through:
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
Community immigration pilots
Caregiver pilots
Agri-Food Pilot

Priority may be given to those who have been living and working in smaller communities for 2+ years

𝐊𝐞𝐲 π¨π›π£πžπœππ’π―πž:
To address labour shortages while supporting long-term settlement outside major urban centres.

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐜π₯𝐚𝐫𝐒𝐟𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧:

πŸ“’ Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) Update β€” February 3, 2026 πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Today marks an important shift in how the AIP operates in New Brunswick. Effective February 3, 2026, New Brunswick has transitioned to a candidate pool system for AIP endorsement applications. Instead of processing on a first-come, first-served basis, applications submitted by designated employers will now be held in a provincial pool and selected based on labour market priorities. This change is designed to help align AIP endorsements with local economic needs more effectively.

Key points of the update:

βœ… Endorsement applications will be placed into a candidate pool for monthly selection.

βœ… Selection is not automatic upon submission β€” it must align with provincial priorities.

βœ… Applications remain valid up to 365 days in the pool; those not selected will expire and must be resubmitted.

βœ… Certain occupations are restricted β€” in particular, many jobs in the accommodation and food services sector will not be considered for AIP endorsements by New Brunswick.

βœ… Endorsements for positions offered to candidates outside Canada are currently limited to government-led recruitment initiatives in healthcare, education, and construction trades.

πŸ“ What this means for employers & candidates:
β€’ Employers should ensure job offers align with provincial priorities before submitting endorsement applications.
β€’ Candidates may experience a shift in timing and selection depending on demand and labour market needs.
β€’ Alternative pathways, including PNP streams in other Atlantic provinces, remain options for those not selected through NB-AIP.

As always, we’re here to help you strategize your next step toward Canadian permanent residency under the AIP or other economic immigration pathways.

🌺 Why Remembrance Day Matters for Newcomers and Immigrants in Canada

As immigrants, newcomers, and children of immigrants, Remembrance Day reminds us of the sacrifices that built the peace and freedom we enjoy in Canada today.

For many who chose Canada as their new home, this day is a moment to reflect on the values that drew us here ..freedom, democracy, and the courage to stand for what is right.

By remembering those who served and gave their lives, we also honor the opportunity we have to contribute, build, and protect the Canada they fought for.

We wear the poppy with gratitude.. not only for what was given, but for the chance to continue their legacy in our new homeland.
