Hear it from the source ... Dr. Barry J. Cummings, the Founder and Managing Partner of Creative International is one of 5 international experts who will be joining Karen Strang and Melanie McVeety from “EduCulture” for our 3-part webspiration series occurring from July 14 – Aug 10, 2021.

Collaborating again with my dear friend and colleague, Dr. Liisa Timonen from Joensuu, Finland has come full-circle, as she is one of 5 international experts who will be joining Karen Strang and Melanie McVeety from “EduCulture” for our 3-part webspiration series occurring from July 14 – Aug 10, 2021.

Her topic for this event is: Interculturally Competent – what does it really mean in the changing world of internationalisation?

Dr. Timonen leads internationalisation, partnerships and global education services at Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Finland. She contributes extensively into the international research, development and innovation project design and leadership. Liisa has vast research expertise in exploring international higher education discussing co-creation of competences, transcultural learning and teaching, transversal competences and co-creative design processes, and currently serves on national boards and regional committees.

This topic will be a focus of a discussion featuring Dr. Roopa Desai Trilokekar, an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at York University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Roopa is one of 5 international experts who will be joining Karen Strang and Melanie McVeety from “EduCulture” for our 3-part webspiration series occurring from July 14 – Aug 10, 2021.
Her topic for this event is: From ‘Exclusive’ to ‘Inclusive’ Internationalization – challenging and deconstructing our discourses on international students through a lens of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Dr. Desai Trilokekar comes to an academic career after 20 years of professional experience in the field of international education in Canada, India and the US. Roopa’s research interests are focused on government policy in the internationalization of Canadian higher education, student experiential learning through international education and internationalizing pre-service teacher education. Her knowledge and experience contribute to rethinking how the international education landscape should take form during this time of transition!
