Meet the crew behind the scenes in Edmonton 👋

From organizing equipment to making sure everything is ready to go, this team plays an important role in keeping the branch running smoothly each day.

Next time you see our equipment out on the road, you’ll know some of the people who helped get it there.

🚧 Why are message boards such an important part of traffic management?

When road conditions change, drivers need clear information with enough time to respond safely. Electronic message boards help communicate upcoming closures, detours, lane changes, traffic updates, and other important information before drivers reach the affected area. With highly visible displays, they help keep road users informed, reduce confusion, and support safer, smoother movement through and around active work zones. The right message at the right time can make a real difference on the road.

We’re proud to celebrate Robert Clark, our Vice President of Health & Safety, on being named OHS Professional of the Year 2026 by OHS Canada.

Robert’s leadership and commitment to safety continue to make a meaningful impact across our teams and operations. His work helps strengthen the systems, practices, and culture that keep our people and the communities we work in safe.

Congratulations, Robert, on this incredible recognition. We’re proud to celebrate this achievement with you.

We can all feel a little frustrated when we see this sign: ROAD CLOSED. 🚧

It may mean a delay, a detour, or a change to your plans.

But the traffic control person at the closure is there for an important reason: to help keep workers, drivers, pedestrians, and the surrounding community safe.

A little patience can go a long way.

When approaching a road closure or work zone, please slow down, follow the signs and directions, stay alert, and treat the people working on our roads with respect.

We all share the responsibility of helping keep our roads and work zones safe.

A few extra minutes on the road is always worth making sure everyone gets home safely.

⛳️More than a day on the course, the 7th Alberta Women of Industry Classic was about creating space for women in construction to connect, lead, and grow. We were proud to take part in this year’s event at The Quarry Golf Club.

The day brought women from across Alberta together to strengthen professional connections, share experiences, and celebrate the growing impact women continue to make across the industry. This year’s Classic also supported McDougall House, extending that sense of support beyond the workplace and into the broader Edmonton community.

We were especially proud to have our Roadside Safety Manager, Jenna, there representing our team and contributing through her involvement with the Alberta Women of Industry Committee.

In construction, roadbuilding, and traffic safety, representation matters. Creating opportunities for women to be seen, heard, connected, and represented in leadership helps build a stronger industry for everyone.

We were grateful to be part of a day that celebrated the women shaping our industry today while helping create more opportunities for those who will shape its future.

This year’s Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) Annual Conference brought together women, leaders, and industry professionals from across Canada’s construction sector to connect, share ideas, and take part in conversations around leadership, innovation, workforce development, and advancing women in construction.

We were especially proud to have our Barricades and Signs LTD team representing us in Calgary. As our regional team in Alberta, they are closely connected to the construction and infrastructure industry, which made this an important opportunity to build relationships, learn from others, and support conversations that are shaping the future of the sector.

For us, being part of CAWIC matters because a stronger industry is one where more women have the opportunity to build careers, grow into leadership roles, and help influence the future of construction.
