Get this right and watch them line up to work with you.

I learned being direct or crystal clear on expectations, sounds differently..
Everyone wants to lead… until it’s time to:

• tell the truth without sugarcoating it
• make a hard call that won’t make you popular
• hold people accountable (including yourself)

And here’s the part nobody likes hearing:
Doing the easy thing is the fastest way to fall behind.

You avoid the uncomfortable conversation (s)…
You have excuses for the tasks you 'don't like to do' even though you know they NEED to be done...
You choose the low-hanging 'easy' tasks…
You show up ontime instead of 20 minutes early.

And then wonder why nothing changes.
Leadership is boring.
It’s repetitive.
It’s uncomfortable.
It’s choosing the thing you don’t want to do over the thing that feels good in the moment for YOU ... rather than focusing on others and helping them achieve their dreams.

Being the boss is HARD WORK, LONG HOURS with no days off!

THE REWARD, it's worth every single moment... I wouldn't change it for the world - that sense of accomplishment when my running mates faces light up - who doesn't want that?

Some folks are what I call CON-nectors - rehearsed & calculated.

They don’t show up to serve—they show up to take.

It’s all about what they can get from the conversation, the room, or the relationship. And they’re good at pretending to care. They know the right words, the right nods, and the right timing. But it’s not real.

It’s rehearsed. Calculated.

These types don’t invest in connection—they perform it.

And while they might rise fast in some circles, their lack of genuine care eventually shows. Time always tells the truth.

And here’s the thing—if you’re building a brand, this matters more than you think. Whether it’s your business brand or your personal one, how you show up is the brand. People can smell performance a mile away.

They can tell when someone’s connecting to get something, not to give something. They don’t trust it—and they shouldn’t.

Reputation, opportunity, and long-term success don’t come from a polished pitch or perfect packaging. They come from how people experience you. Do they feel seen? Heard? Respected? Or do they walk away feeling used, dismissed, and sold to?

That’s why I’m great at marketing. Not because I know all the tactics—but because I understand the 'why' within the human journey. And that’s where you start. Always.

I’ve learned this: I always want to show up with my gives being equal to—or greater than—my wants. That’s my internal compass. Because when someone leads with the ā€œaskā€ and never brings a ā€œgiveā€? You notice. Quickly.

The conversation tilts toward them. Their needs. Their goals. Their agenda. And the moment you stop being useful? They disappear.

But here’s the flip side—reciprocity, when it’s ethical and rooted in respect, is a beautiful thing. When you’re around people who get it, who are wired to give just as much as they receive—it flows.

You don’t have to force it.

When you lead with ā€œabundance - curiosity - gratitudeā€, people want to give back. Not because they have to. Because they want to. Because you showed up right.

And when you show up right, your brand can’t help but grow in the right direction.

Connection isn’t how you close the deal.
It’s how you open the door.
