Truth.
Most CEOs picture a fractional CMO as someone who shows up and starts running campaigns on day one. The good ones do almost the opposite.
The first 30 days isn't about flash. It's about diagnosis, and it usually goes in three steps. First, listen — talk to the sales team, talk to actual customers, read the data that's already sitting there. Most of the answers are already in the building; they've just never been pulled together in one place.
Second, diagnose — find where the real leak is. It's usually not what the team assumed, and the problem they hired me to fix is rarely the one actually costing them money.
Third, sequence — decide what gets fixed first. Not everything at once, just the one or two moves that unlock the rest.
If a CMO is launching campaigns in week one without understanding your business, that isn't speed, it's guessing. The flashy part comes later. The first month is about making sure we're solving the right problem in the first place.
