How to avoid Rejection of Canadian Study Permit (12 point Agenda)

There is no stone carved rule when it comes to Canada Study Permit/Visa application that would guarantee approval of visa, however, the following tips will make a winning application for visa issuance. You can also consult with an authorized service provider to ensure that your Canada Study Permit application is complete to maximize chances of approval.

1. Make sure your Application is relevant, complete and dully signed:

Mostly it has been observed that a number of applications for Canada Study Permit are returned because the application forms are not appropriate, completely filled or dully signed. In addition, you should not leave any section of the application blank. If a question does not apply to you, you can write Not Applicable. Before you submit your application forms, you should ask your friend/family member to double check the forms to ensure its completeness.

2. Do not provide incorrect information:

Providing incorrect and false information will not increase your chances of approval. Always be truthful and provide correct information and documents in and with your application. Submitting forged documents will also impact the credibility of your application and your application most likely be refused for misrepresentation. The same case is with inconsistencies of the information; they create doubts about the entire integrity of the application for the purpose of study in Canada.

3. Submit as many Supporting Documents as possible:

It is your responsibility to establish your strong ties with your home country. Meaning by, once you finish your studies, you will leave Canada. You must attach all documents according to the checklist provided by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. However, just submitting those documents you may not be able to convince the visa officer that you are a genuine student and your intention is only to stay in Canada for your intended purpose. You must submit as many documents as possible to support your Canada Study Permit Application.

If you are being sponsored by a family member either residing in Canada or Pakistan, you are required to submit a sponsor letter as well. The sponsor letter must include personal information of you, your sponsor as well as the relationship between both of you. Preferably, it must be notarized by a notary public.

4. Submit additional documents to establish your Social Ties to your home country:

You need to prove your strong social ties with your home country, otherwise visa officer see it differently; he thinks that you have nothing to come back to your home country once you finish your studies in Canada. You should provide enough documentary evidence that you are socially and financially tied to your home country so that you will come back. You have to convince the visa officer that you are a genuine student by strengthening your Study Permit Application with all the necessary documents. Some examples are your family ties both from your country of origin and in Canada, your employment prospects or status, your financial status or any personal assets and travel history.

5. In-hand Assessment of your Application

Rejection of your application can be avoided if you know the top reasons as to why the case officer may refuse/reject your application. He basically outlines rejection grounds in pursuant to the IRPA act, however in hand assessment of the application helps to make a winning visa application. Please be advised, a weak application is most likely to be rejected.

6. Availability of Sufficient Funds

• When there is shortage of funds or financial resources to cover the entire duration of study in Canada, your application is most likely to be rejected; though student may work part-time but visa officer makes sure that the student can afford paying his/her tuition, accommodation, transportation cost or any other expenses during his/her studies in Canada without taking up the option of part-time employment. When the student uses sponsor/s, the income must be legit and sustainable.
• In case, there are accompanying spouse/partner or children, the amount of funds increases.
• In case, your study is being sponsored by a relative, you need to establish and guarantee a regular and sufficient support to prove this claim.

7. Provision of Additional Documents in Time:

If the case officer requests some additional information such as medical examination and the student fails to comply in a reasonable time mandated or scheduled by the case officer, it can results into rejection of the application.

8. Study Plan:

Through Study Plan, the visa officer clearly wants to see that how an applicant pleads his case as a genuine student for studying in Canada. He is interested to see the grounds stated on his/her study plan that motivates him to take the proposed course program and how it would help his career in his future plans, or if the course odds reasonably to his existing qualification and experience.

9. Evidence of Medical Conditions and Criminal History:

When an applicant is unable to meet the requirements of the medical health or if the applicant has criminal history, both will lead to his inadmissibility to Canada.
10. Gap in Education and Employment:

A big gap in your education and employment always a big question mark

11. Previous Visa Rejections:

Even, it is not a big issue, however If there is a previous visa refusal from Canada or other country which Canada have an exchange of immigration information and that the applicant fails to disclose it or conceals it before and after the submission of the study permit application, it impacts your application negatively. However, there is no harm to reapply provided there is a significant change in the information previously provided. And applicant is able to answer the points those were raised on your application that led to rejection. Understanding and finding the information or additional substantial documents in the context of the rejection may increase or strengthen your application while submitting the another application, noting that there’s a strong possibility that your application will be received by another case officer on which he may have a different view, discretion or judgment on your application/documents being submitted.

12. Use Authorized Representative Only:

To avoid all delays and preparing a winning application, it is always better to hire the services of an authorized educational advisor and immigrant consultant to act as your representative. Please ensure that he or she is well trained, experienced and registered with the relevant professional body. Using the services of an un-authorized representative will result in refusal of your application for Canada Study Permit, because he pleads your case in-sufficiently and un-professionally; and weak application most likely to be rejected always.
