EARLY CLOSURE NOTICE

Hey friends! 👋

Just a quick heads-up — Golden Mile Redemption Centre is closing a little early today at NOON (12pm) because of this heat. The guys need a break to cool down and recharge!

Thanks so much for understanding. We’ll be back to regular hours Monday. Stay safe and hydrated out there! 💧☀️

Ever wonder what actually happens to your aluminum cans after you drop them off at the depot?

YouTuber Jerry Rig Everything just dropped a super informative video showing exactly what happens to cans like yours. It’s the perfect answer to those “what happens next?” questions we sometimes get.

Fun fact: aluminum is infinitely recyclable, and the process is honestly pretty amazing — it uses 95% less energy than making it from scratch! ♻️

👉 Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PR5mykiFzN4

What surprised you most, or do you have more questions about where your returns go? Drop them in the comments!

Thank you for continuing to bring in those cans — together we’re keeping valuable materials in the loop right here in our community.

What really happens to recycled Aluminum? Can Aluminum Be recycled?...

ALMOST $60,000 RAISED for Bobby’s Hospice this year! 🎉

We’re proud to announce that thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the Golden Mile Redemption Centre has helped raise $58,655.60 to Bobby's Hospice - Hospice Greater Saint John this year!

Our bin has had a major glow-up too — freshly cleaned, renovated, and looking better than ever, thanks to the fantastic team at Fero Waste & Recycling Inc for their continued support and hard work!

This brings our total raised since 2018 to over $311,000 for Bobby’s Hospice. That’s over 3,000,000 beverage containers turned into real hope and comfort for families in our community.

Our team at the Golden Mile Redemption Centre couldn’t be prouder of you, Saint John! Your kindness and consistency continue to make a meaningful difference. Every bottle and can you drop off truly matters.

A huge thank you to Fero Waste & Recycling Inc. for helping keep this initiative strong and looking sharp.

Let’s keep the momentum going! 💚

Do you recognize these two guys? This was back on May 20th, around 6:40pm. If they could kindly come back for their BBQ (and odds and bods) that they dumped on our property it would be greatly appreciated. We think the license plate is CYL 355 on their black F150.

Small rant: As a small business owner the amount of illegal dumping in the city can be extremely frustrating. We have more than enough signage to indicate EXACTLY what we can accept (if not too much signage).

We get oil, industrial paints (expensive to get rid of), car parts, batteries, bbqs, beds, general garbage, light bulb tubes, etc. It never ends. Some of it leaks everywhere, some of it might be from someone trying to fix a septic tank (or smells like it at least), and NONE of it makes sense to drop off at a BOTTLE REDEMPTION CENTRE.

I appreciate when you pull up to the depot it can appear like a mess out front day to day, but its nearly impossible to stay on top of all of it. I could post almost everyday, but it feels pointless at times.

Please, just read the signs, or better yet, refer to Fundy Waste's "Where It Goes" wizard, you can enter anything and get an answer on where it is accepted in the general Saint John area:

🏒 Hey everyone!

Our team at the Golden Mile love backing good causes in our community, and this one feels extra special.

We all know ice time around Saint John is tough to come by, so we’re really happy to help out with the new Rothesay RICC rink project.

We’re very excited to announce we will be part of the RICC “Fill the Rink” fundraiser (RICC Community Fundraising Campaign) on Sunday, May 31st from Noon to 3pm. Bring your empties down to Rothesay Arena (65 Hampton Road) and help us raise some money for the new rink. Every bottle and can counts!

Hope to see a big crowd there!
