Citadel Gallery July Auction – Auction Highlight

Auction Highlight: A striking work by celebrated Quebec artist Bruno Côté will be featured in the Citadel Gallery July Auction. This exceptional oil on board, Vue sur la Cote, measures 24" x 30" and is signed lower right, while the reverse is additionally signed, titled, and dated 1994. The painting is presented framed and retains a Galerie d’Art Vincent Inc. label on the reverse. Provenance: from a distinguished private collection in Saint John, N.B., Canada.

Born in Quebec City, Bruno Côté (1940–2010) was one of Canada's most admired landscape painters, celebrated for his vibrant and expressive interpretations of the country's wilderness. After a successful career in advertising, he dedicated himself fully to painting in the late 1970s, establishing his studio in Baie-Saint-Paul, where the dramatic landscapes of the Charlevoix region became a lasting source of inspiration. His bold brushwork, rich palette, and remarkable ability to capture light have earned his works a place in important public and private collections across Canada and internationally.

As many of you know, Citadel Gallery Auctions has now evolved into a full-time auction house. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to step away from custom picture framing for the general public.

This was not a decision made lightly.

For more than 30 years, we had the privilege of framing cherished family photographs, treasured heirlooms, children's artwork, diplomas, military memorabilia, and countless pieces of art for over 5,000 customers. Along the way, many of our clients became friends, and many of those friendships continue today.

We are deeply grateful for the trust that so many individuals and families placed in us over the years. Being invited to help preserve your memories and display the things that matter most to you has been both an honour and a privilege.

While one chapter is closing, another is growing. We are excited to continue serving collectors, estates, institutions, and consignors through our auction house, helping important works of art and historical objects find new homes and continue their stories.
