💙❤️ September was a special month for Family Checks!

We had the privilege of supporting 7 local families with a combined 113 hours of care, companionship and support.

To us, those 113 hours are about so much more than a number. They represent conversations, outings, helping hands, moments of respite for caregivers, and time spent making sure someone feels safe, supported and cared for.

We’re incredibly thankful to every family who has trusted Family Checks to be part of their lives. Watching this little local business grow while helping more people in our community means so much to us.

Caregivers spend so much time looking after everyone else. Sometimes, they need a break too.

Family Checks for Peace of Mind is giving one local family 3 FREE hours of respite care. ❤️

Those three hours could mean time to run errands, go to an appointment, have lunch with a friend, take a nap, or simply have a little time to themselves knowing their loved one is in caring hands.

How to nominate someone:

The Family Behind Family Checks ❤️🍎

This past Saturday, we took a little time away from work and spent the day together apple picking — and we’ve decided it’s officially becoming a new yearly family tradition. 🍎

When you choose Family Checks for Peace of Mind, this is the family behind the name. We’re local people caring for local families, and family really is at the heart of what we do.

We know how important it is to trust the people caring for someone you love. Our goal has always been simple: to provide the same kindness, patience, respect and genuine care that we would want for our own family.

Saturday was about fresh air, plenty of laughs, making memories and probably bringing home more apples than we know what to do with. 😂🍎

🦌 Gary and I went to Rockwood Park and picked up a new friend… apparently he has expensive tastes and expects us to provide lunch! 😂

Not every day you get this close to an 8-point buck! And with eight points on his head, we figured it was probably best NOT to p**s him off! 🤣🤣

I told Gary we'd better stay on his good side. He's got the antlers, and we've got absolutely no interest in finding out how he uses them! 😂

At Family Checks, you never quite know what adventures the day will bring. Sometimes it's a scenic drive, sometimes it's a walk in the park… and sometimes you end up buying lunch for a guy you REALLY don't want to argue with! 🦌❤️

🍎❤️ A gentleman has to look his best for his beautiful wife!

Graham had a fresh shave, his eyebrows, ears and nose tidied up, all in preparation for a little apple-picking adventure with his lovely wife, Pat.

💙❤️ Some clients become family, and this crew has been with us since day one!

From the very beginning of Family Checks, Cindy, Ed and Dexter have welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like part of their family. 🥰

Ed enjoys the simple things in life — flipping through flyers, soaking up the sunshine on the deck and, of course, spending time with his best buddy, Dexter! 🐾☀️

But the real rockstar of this family is Cindy! ❤️ Her love, dedication and the amazing care she gives Ed every single day are truly something special.

It's families like this that remind me why we started Family Checks in the first place. It's so much more than providing care. It's about building friendships, sharing laughs and becoming part of someone's everyday life.

Apparently all you need to become wildly popular is a bag of bird food. 🐦😂

Within minutes we had a full audience, several repeat customers, and at least one pigeon who was clearly expecting VIP service.

No manners. No patience. Zero concept of personal space. 😂

But we had a great laugh, got some fresh air, and made a pretty ordinary afternoon a whole lot more fun. ❤️
