Finding the perfect VA for you is a process. Let's start with Step #1.
Make your Game Plan - Before you start posting job offers, what you should really do first is consider you and your business needs. Ensuring you are clear on your specific needs before hiring a VA is essential to the success of your relationship. The following are three key things I recommend doing before outsourcing.
1. Make a List - Jot down all of the things that you need help with, that consume too much of your time, OR that you don't enjoy doing. This could be email, customer service, project management, invoicing, social media, blogging, web design, etc.
2. Prioritize - From your list, what is most important for your business success, would free up time for you, AND you feel comfortable handing over to someone else?
3. Schedule - Decide if this a one time project, or do you need ongoing help? Knowing this will help you determine your budget, and also allow you to narrow down the list of candidates.
