With National Indigenous Peoples Day just past, we take a moment to reflect on and honour the rich cultures, knowledge systems, histories, and enduring stewardship of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Turtle Island.
At TerraHumana Solutions, we recognize that meaningful environmental work begins with relationships, reciprocity, and respect. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Indigenous communities, including our long-term collaboration with the Kanesatake community and our past work with the Inuit communities of Salluit and Kangiqsujuaq.
Over the years, this work has taken us from wetlands and forests to the northern tundra, gardens, shorelines, and community gathering spaces. More importantly, it has enabled us to build relationships, learn from community members, and deepen our understanding of the profound connections among environmental health, culture, and well-being.
Last year, we were honoured to participate in Family Day in Kanesatake, where we shared our work, listened, learned, and engaged in meaningful conversations with community members of all ages. These experiences remind us that science is strongest when grounded in community priorities, local knowledge, and mutual trust.
As we begin another field season, we reaffirm our commitment to collaborative, respectful, and community-driven environmental research.
