Our growing team in New Brunswick (minus Travis) got together for their Summer party! ☀️

We've grown from 4 to 7 team members this year, and they're doing great work on the east coast offering field and professional services across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We're excited to see how the team continues to expand!

Congratulations to Rebecca Quiding (Kamloops), Vanessa Pearce (Kamloops), and Émile Côté (Nelson) on passing the BC survey accreditation exam and becoming Forsite’s newest Accredited Silviculture Surveyors! 🙌

"Getting through the accreditation exam took considerable effort, through training sessions, field project work, and in-house mentoring. This is a great accomplishment, that will open doors to new project opportunities, responsibilities, and the continued development of your silviculture skills.

Developing silviculture surveyors through our in-house processes is very much a team effort, so I also want to acknowledge all of the other Forsite silviculture staff that played a role in mentoring, training, answering questions, and supporting Rebecca, Vanessa, and Émile as they prepared for the accreditation exam. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Congratulations to all 3 of you - well done!" Rick Kooistra, Assistant Manager - Silviculture

Supporting the next generation of foresters! 🌲

Alexandra Farkas, Forest Analyst, and Craig Robinson, Manager - Analytics, were key contributors at the 2026 Ontario Envirothon Championships, hosted by Forests Canada, at the University of Waterloo.

Alexandra and Craig led the Forestry Workshop, giving 65 student competitors an overview of sustainable forest management in Ontario before heading outside to sharpen their tree identification skills and hands-on use of forestry equipment like clinometers and prisms.

We're always glad to support initiatives that inspire young people to engage with our forests and the environment!

Happy 5 year Forsite anniversary (June 7th) to Devin Baugh-Lussier, GIS Specialist & Assistant GIS Team Lead! 🎉

"When Devin joined Forsite five years ago, they brought something unusual to a GIS team: a background in film production. It turns out that was no accident, they've been directing great work ever since.

Over five years, Devin became a go-to on the GIS team, known for keeping complex projects organized, spotting better approaches before anyone else thought to ask, and delivering work that clients notice and remember. Devin has a knack for understanding what clients actually need and building that into the work from the start rather than chasing it at the end. It's what earned them the lead role in our Visual Modelling group.

Congratulations on five years, Devin!" Steve Smyrl, Team Lead - GIS

Troy Bishop, Silviculture Technician based in Kamloops, snapped a few photos while working on a planting project in Gun Lake! 📸

"I took these pictures while implementing a planting project within the Downton Lake wildfire area. In total, 550,000 trees were planted into various units in the Gun Lake/Gun Creek region - some of which were units I had recce'd and set up last Summer/Fall. So, it was so exciting to follow through with this project on the implementation end and see the sites get planted.

It is a truly remarkable and breathtaking area, and it brings me great pride to work toward reforesting some of the wildfire-effected areas. I look forward to continuing this effort in years to come."

We're exhibiting at two exciting conferences next week! 🌲

The Indigenous Resources Opportunities Conference (IROC) is a great place to connect with Indigenous Nations and share how our technical expertise, tools, and capacity supports stewarship, wildfire preparedness, and landscape-level planning.

At the BC Community Forests Association (BCCFA) Conference, we will be connecting with community forest practitioners to talk wildfire risk and resiliency, strategic planning and governance, visual resource management, and more.

Community-based land managers are carrying more responsibility than ever - for forest health, wildfire risk, and the long-term productivity of the tenures they steward.

Forsite works alongside Community Forests, First Nations Woodland Licence holders, Woodlot Licence holders, and other tenure holders to put accurate, actionable data in the hands of the people doing that work.

Our services span the full planning cycle: on-the-ground forestry planning, management, community engagement and field operations support - as well as expert analysis with LiDAR-derived forest inventory and structure data through ForestView®, fire behaviour fuel modelling and wildfire risk assessment through FireView™.
