On December 3, Jordan Baptiste had the honour of speaking at the Special Chiefs Assembly, held on the traditional territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation in Ottawa.

Jordan shared the journey of Des Nedhe Group - the economic development arm of Creative Fire’s owners, English River First Nation. Des Nedhe’s story illustrates how Indigenous-led businesses create opportunities, drive innovation and create real benefits for their communities.

At Creative Fire, we are proud to carry this vision forward. As Jordan put it: “By embedding reconciliation into corporate strategies, amplifying Indigenous voices and showcasing Indigenous leadership, Creative Fire helps organizations take real, impactful action toward a more inclusive future.”

On September 30, we honour the strength and resilience of the Survivors of the Indian Residential Schools and Day Schools, their families and their communities. We carry in our hearts the children who never returned home, and we remember them not only in grief but in hope for healing.

Our thoughts are especially with our owners, English River First Nation, who in 2023 uncovered 93 unmarked graves near the former Beauval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan. Their loss is a stark reminder of the painful history we continue to confront.

As we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite each of you to reflect on this day with intention. Reconciliation is not just about remembering the past—it’s about how we move forward together and the actions we take to make things right.

Today, on Indigenous Veterans Day, we recognize and honour the sacrifices of the thousands of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis veterans. We want to pay special honour to English River First Nation’s veterans, including Robin Dawatsare, Frank Gunn, Simon Paul, the late Armand Misponas and Preston D’Jonaire, and Kurt Biller for his current service. Happy International Inuit Day!
ᖁᕕᐊᓱᒋᑦᑎ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᕐᒥᑦ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐅᑉᓗᖓᓂᑦ!
As we honour International Inuit Day, our team is especially grateful for the opportunities we had this year to learn and experience the culture in Rankin Inlet and Baker Lake.

In May, we were warmly welcomed into the festivities for Baker Lake Hamlet Days. From bum races, to late night square dancing and team events out on the lake we saw firsthand how humour and connection contribute to the resiliency of the Inuit.

The Creative Fire leadership retreat celebrated Indigenous creativity and innovation in style with our beautiful MINI TIPI Thunderbird bags. The thunderbird represents power, strength and survival and reminds us that when we come together, incredible things happen! 🔥✨ We love showing support for female leadership and lifting each other up. Our retreat was infused with female-led Indigenous businesses, from MINI TIPI to Lodge Soy Candles and event management provided by Virtual Gurus.
