This year, individual income tax filing season begins February 21st. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I am minimizing physical contact. I have successfully filed many income tax returns in 2021 while preserving the security of information. In 2022, I will continue to offer the option of drop-off or email communication to those who'd prefer to use these methods. Call (306) 612-1013.

A Simplified Process for Claiming the Home Office Expenses for
Canadians Working from Home Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue, provided additional details on how the Canada Revenue Agency has made the home office expenses deduction available to more Canadians, and simplified the way employees can claim these expenses on their personal income tax return for the 2020 tax year. Employees with larger claims for home office expenses can still choose to use the existing detailed method to calculate their home office expenses deduction. Click this link for more info

This year has been filled with unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 – Temporary Measure – Already Filed Paper Returns

In support of the recent COVID-19 announcements, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is continuing to introduce new measures to assist Canadians in filing their income tax and benefit returns during this difficult time.

In its ongoing commitment to serve Canadians better, the CRA will implement a temporary measure, starting on April 20, 2020, which will allow an electronic filer to submit an electronic return for their client, even if a paper return has already been received for that tax year, but has not yet been processed.

Call us at (306) 612-1013 and we will efile your return.

Do you need help with your tax returns? 2018 individual tax returns are due by April 30th and self-employed returns by June 15th. If you owe taxes and fail to meet the deadline, penalty charges and daily compound interest will accrue on the unpaid amount. The penalty is 5% of the outstanding balance plus and additional 1% of the outstanding balance, for every month your return is late, to a maximum of 12 months. If you have 12 months late tax filing, your total penalty will therefore be 17% of the balance owing. What's worse, interest will be charged on the penalty back to the original filing date. Call (306) 612-1013 to setup an appointment.
