I know I know, it seems like a giant pain. But trust me, it’s worth it. Let’s take a look at why taking and using your own photos is so important.
It allows you to actually put YOUR product out there. You’ve taken the time to put it together to see what you are actually capable of. If you use someone else’s photo, you are losing that and just hoping for the best when the time comes for you to actually make it.
Clients often love to see what they are ordering before they commit to a purchase. Using photos as opposed to just words will not only provide your client with more trust towards your business, but you will make more sales. For hand makers especially, not every item is identical but having the image will at least give it a close comparison.
Stage your photos. This can be a lengthy process but it doesn’t need to take too much effort to get things started when the highlight of the photo is your product. Personally here at the bakery, I have a tote that is full of themed items that go with all of the themes we do here for our cookie pre-sales. When the time comes for me to have to take the photos, it’s just a matter of setting up the props, the product and some good lighting to make it work. The first few times you do it, it will probably take a while, so plan out accordingly within your work schedule.
