Every spring season, the Sun, Moon, and Earth align during new and full moons. This alignment causes gravitational forces to combine and act in the same direction, resulting in above average high and low tides, also known as zero tide or spring tide.

Zero tide has allowed us to work within the tidal zone without disturbing ocean water features. And with the tide continuously rising and falling, we were given a short and pressured amount of time to construct an interlocking concrete barge ramp. This will soon serve as a log dump and loading ramp for future forestry operations off the coast of Hotham Sound. 🌲🌿

A lake’s outflow culvert was plugged with woody debris and it resulted in mass flooding over the span of 5 years. This is an example of how industrious beavers can really be. 🦫🪵

We spent a couple weeks dewatering the entire lake. Approximately 1-1.5 million gallons at 4000 gallons/minute of water was removed until the lake was restored to its natural size. The outflow culvert was removed and a 50ft permanent concrete slabs bridge on spread footings with a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall was installed in place. 🌲
