Last night was truly an honour and perhaps the proudest I’ve ever been. It has brought me so much joy to create a scholarship in honour of my late Grandfather. I had the pleasure of presenting the inaugural “Wayne Tibbel Memorial Trades Scholarship” last night at Frances Kelsey Secondary School.

Do you have one of these ovens?

Thousands of Frigidaire ovens sold in Canada are being recalled over a burn risk — and officials are warning people to stop using them immediately. Health Canada says the issue involves delayed ignition in the oven’s bake burner, which can cause sudden flare-ups.

So far, at least one person in Canada has been injured, along with 30 more in the U.S., across 62 reported incidents. The recall affects over 5,300 units in Canada, sold between June 2025 and January 2026, under Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery, and Frigidaire Professional brands.

Consumers are being told to stop using the oven function right away, though the stovetop burners are still considered safe. Electrolux, the parent company, is offering free in-home repairs to fix the issue.

Anyone with affected models is urged to contact the company to arrange a burner replacement.
