When an emergency happens, our team is quick to respond 🛤️

At SLM Rail Services, large-scale derailments in high-traffic or populated areas especially near one of our scrap yards are rare but critical events that demand immediate, expert response.

As widely shared online, our team was proud to assist in the cleanup and recovery of a multi-car (13) train derailment that occurred on March 30th carrying over into today east of Glendale in St.Catharines.

Mobilizing multiple specialized rail assets and a highly trained emergency response team, we worked through the night with precision, patience, and a strong commitment to safety and getting things back on track.

Through professionally coordinated effort and problem-solving expertise, we were able to help restore operations efficiently and effectively.

It was an honour to demonstrate the capabilities we bring daily to rail operations across Ontario and beyond—especially while supporting our local communities when it matters most.

Please share - We’ve got $5000 cash leading to information that ends in the arrest of this a-hole that broke into Shelburne Iron & Metal tonight. Nothing of value stolen and cash isn’t kept on site overnight, but lots of frustration and unrest caused. We hate thieves and will do everything possible to deter them. Reach out to us, or local OPP if you have any information.

’Twas the night before Christmas, at the scrap yard so still,
Not a loader was stirring, not even a drill.
The copper was stacked and the steel set just right,
In hopes that Saint Nickel would stop by that night.

The workers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of aluminum danced in their heads.
And I in my hard hat, and gloves by the door,
Had just settled in after weighing one more.

When out by the scale there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my truck to see what was the matter.
Away to the yard gate I flew like a flash,
Past bins full of brass and a pile of clean trash.

The moon on the gleam of old stainless steel bright,
Gave a luster of silver to the yard that night.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a sleigh made of scrap and eight forklifts in gear.

With a jolly old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick.
More rapid than loaders his forklifts they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

“Now Copper! Now Tin! Now Steel and Aluminum!
On Brass! On Wire! On Motors—maximum!
To the top of the pile! To the edge of the wall!
Now recycle! Recycle! Recycle it all!”

He sprang from his sleigh, boots dusty with rust,
With a sack full of treasures reclaimed from the dust.
He smiled as he worked, what a wonderful sight,
Turning old into new in the soft Christmas light.

He tipped me a nod and went back to his sleigh,
“Remember,” he said, “don’t throw value away.
Scrap metal’s a gift, not junk to dismiss—
Recycle it wisely, and you won’t miss.”

And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
“Happy scrapping to all, and to all a good night!”

Such a great event in our community that we are happy to help with!

When Frankenstein rusts those bolts out or the zombies take the hearse for one last joyride and it needs a scrap yard when they'e done with it, we schlepp it all down to Shelburne Iron & Metal, just north of Shelburne on County Road 124. A great group of people that are great supporters of all the crazy things we do here at Haunt In The Park! Thank you for not just helping to make it happen, but also for helping to spread the word by putting our advertising up on your sign!
