Self love compliments and laughter yoga compliment each other beautifully just like a great food pairing!! (Prosciutto and melon).. ok now here is why it works! Compliments =balance. Like flavours people feel more whole when strengths are acknowledged! Contrast=Joy. Thereโ€™s contrast in laughter yoga (breath+sound, silliness + calm) the same way food uses texture. Pairing =harmony. Self love compliments pair beautifully with laughter because they activate different but complimentary emotional systems.

I love adding forward folds in during laughter yoga. They are perfect when your focus is self love ๐Ÿ’• ( perfect for February) and mental health! Hereโ€™s why: When you are in forward fold your gaze turns inward and your body envelopes itself! This is a physical cue saying โ€œ Iโ€™m allowed to be with myselfโ€โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Why is it that we tend to put ourselves last or are even our worst critics! For years I would hide behind my neurodivergent mask trying to be normal just to fit in. I had hit a point where my nervous system was so overwhelmed! A simple suggestion was โ€œ have you thought of self careโ€ probably not as I am the worst self critic and the old me never valued myself and would beat myself up more if I was not fitting in or pleasing others. Now I can say I am an advocate for self care as I am done being unkind to myself. Everyday is challenging as my little neurodivergent uniqueness will remind me daily that itโ€™s still with me. Ok my rambling will stop. I practice laughter yoga as a form of self care. I am able to unmask and be my true authentic self, it interrupts the self criticism with warmth, it reconnects me to play, my relationship with myself is becoming gentle. I encourage you to practice self love in what ever way you like to do it. There are no negative side effects to self love ๐Ÿ’•

End of the day laughter yoga is a gentle way to help your brain unwind. Especially if it was over stimulating. By pairing light intentional laughter with slooow breathing this tell your nervous system itโ€™s safe and can relax. This is such an accessible reset that anyone can do ! Iโ€™m sure at some point we are sitting on the couch in the evening! Give it a try a feel the days heaviness melt awayโค๏ธ Afterwards you will be filled with the feel good hormones and helping your mind and body settle into a calmer evening rhythm.
