If you’re struggling with recovery after childbirth and wondering whether support may be available, you can contact AHS directly and request an assessment yourself.

Many mothers don’t realize that home care support isn’t only for seniors.

For some individuals recovering from health challenges—including certain postpartum recovery situations—home care services may be available following an assessment by an AHS Case Manager.

If approved for the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) program, you may have the option to choose an approved provider for your services.

And here’s another important thing to know:

💜 If approved for CDHCI, eligible services are government-funded, meaning you do not pay out of pocket for approved support.

There are many misconceptions about home care, and unfortunately, some of these myths prevent individuals and families from seeking support when they need it most.

The truth is that support looks different for everyone.

For some, it may mean help recovering after an illness or hospitalization. For others, it may mean respite for a family caregiver, assistance with daily activities, extra support for a loved one living with a disability, or help remaining safely and comfortably at home.

One of the things that makes Canada special is the emphasis placed on supporting the health, well-being, and independence of people living in our communities. Through various government and community programs, support may be available for seniors, individuals living with disabilities, those recovering from illness or injury, and family caregivers who need additional help.

Many people are surprised to learn that some programs and services may be available to eligible residents regardless of citizenship status. Eligibility requirements vary by program, but the first step is simply reaching out and asking questions.

Thankfully, support exists for many different family situations—but you can only discover what options may be available to you if you seek help.

Seeking support is not about giving up independence. In many cases, it’s about preserving it, reducing stress, and improving quality of life for everyone involved.

Plum Wings Family Care Company is now an approved Service Provider for the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI) through Alberta Health Services.

Did you know that some Albertans may qualify for funded home care support, regardless of age?

The CDHCI Program allows eligible Albertans to choose their preferred home care provider while maintaining greater choice and flexibility in how their care is delivered.

For approved services, billing is submitted directly through Alberta Blue Cross, helping eliminate out-of-pocket costs for eligible clients.

Please note: You do not need to have an Alberta Blue Cross insurance plan to qualify for CDHCI. Eligibility is determined through an Alberta Health Services Home and Community Care assessment completed by an Alberta Health Services Case Manager.
