Robert was born in a small town in Eastern Canada spending most of his formative years on a dairy farm. He is the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. Rob’s father was deaf for most of his early life that had an enormous impact on his life. After graduating from High school he ventured out to western Canada to start his education in

Saskatchewan. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education he started a long and fulfilling career as a minister. While in several charges in Kingston, Belleville, Mississauga, Windsor ON and St Albert he earned a Master’s Degree and is currently in a Doctoral program in Communication and Leadership. In 2011, after retiring from serving the Alliance church for nearly 30 years, he started his own consulting company, “Robert J. Claxton & Associates Inc” specializing helping businesses in “Empowering People and Piloting Performance.”

He is an independent certified coach, trainer and speaker with the John Maxwell Team. He has been a mentor and coach for 20 years in teaching thousands of people how to live the golden rule (or as we call it the four-way test). He has served in many national and provincial roles with his denomination as well as assisting new student ministers with practical field education in their University in Calgary. He was first introduced to Rotary in Windsor ON in 1993 where he served as Chairman of the Youth Exchange Committee, Board member and was President-Elect before accepting a transfer to Alberta in 2002. Albert – St City Rotary Club prior to joining the Edmonton Downtown Rotary Club. I have known Ron for over 9 years. He has lived the motto of service above self. Rob is a father to two adult children, Ryan, Erin and father-in-law to Lucas,and Lisa. His greatest joy is being hugged and loved by his incredible grandchildren Tyson, Shelby and Logan. He is an avid student, a seasoned traveler to Israel, Turkey, and most of Europe. He enjoys golfing and is a member of the Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club.
