It was such an honour to receive the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) Gold Award for Excellence in Planning Practice for "Home suite Home," a guide Plassurban created with BC Housing and the Province of BC's Ministry of Housing to support homeowners in navigating the legal and technical rules associated with building and renting a secondary suite or accessory dwelling unit on their property. Looking forward to continuing to support planners, practitioners, and the public across BC in achieving their housing goals.

Plassurban is thrilled to share that our Founder and Director, Kristin Agnello, was recently inducted into the Government of Canada's Women of Impact Gallery in the category of Human Rights for her research and advocacy relating to women's rights in the urban environment. This gallery recognizes the commitment of many women to upholding justice and advancing important social causes in Canada and beyond. In light of what has just happened in the US, there is still much work to be done. Let's keep fighting the good fight and lift each other at every possible opportunity.

The Award for Planning Excellence in the category of Planning Publications and Media goes to Plassurban Consulting Inc. and BC Housing’s "Child in the City: Planning Communities for Children and their Families." This book goes beyond academic research to provide a useful tool for planning spaces for children. The jurors were impressed by the practical checklists, age-appropriate consultation tips, detailed proformas, and cost benefit analyses. While the book provides some history and context, it is also forward-thinking, enabling professionals and children to be co-authors of their communities.

Thrilled to share that Plassurban's book, Child in the City, has been awarded a National Award of Excellence for Planning Research by the Canadian Institute of Planners. Child in the City is a book about designing communities for children and their families; considering the valuable contribution of children as current - and not solely future - citizens in our cities and communities. This morning, Plassurban's Director, Kristin Agnello, had the privilege of participating in a consultation with the Commonwealth Secretariat on behalf of the Commonwealth Women in Planning Network. This meeting was intended to review the Secretariat's Strategic Plan in advance of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Rwanda in June 2021.

Early morning (4 am) meeting with the Commonwealth Association of Planners for the launch of an 11 week program on sustainable urbanisation. HRH Prince Charles launched the initiative, which has been underway for a number of years now and was supposed to be introduced in Rwanda this month.
