At Neeganii Iishawin, this year's flagship panel is going to examine behind-the-scenes of major Indigenous infrastructure projects with the Anatomy of an Infrastructure Project panel.

On Thursday, February 12th at 2:45 PM in the Kaministiquia Ballroom, this session will explore how Indigenous leadership, collaboration, and innovative strategies drive large-scale energy and infrastructure initiatives across Northern Ontario.

The discussion will be moderated by Valerie Helbronner, ICD.D, co-head of Torys LLP Indigenous practice, with decades of experience advising on complex infrastructure and energy projects impacting Indigenous communities.

Panelists include Margaret Kenequanash of Wataynikaneyap Power Frank Mckay of Windigo Community Development, Chief Russell Wesley of Cat Lake First Nation, and Kody Penner of Nations Royalty , bringing expertise in Indigenous-led energy projects, sustainable development, community infrastructure, and resource management.

We are pleased to welcome Bava Dhillon of Bison Modular as a Keynote Speaker at Neeganii Iishawin 2026!

A First Nations leader, entrepreneur, and economic development strategist, Bava is a former elected leader of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation (Treaty 4) and a nominee for Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, representing 64 First Nations. His work focuses on advancing Indigenous ownership, governance, and control within local and regional economies.

At the intersection of Indigenous governance, private capital, and community ownership, Bava has helped establish and advise Indigenous partnerships across sectors including insurance, construction, real estate, automotive, franchising, and branding. He is also the founder and lead organizer of major Indigenous economic conferences centered on ownership, reconciliation through commerce, and long-term prosperity.
