Taan Forest is proud to support the Cultural Wood Program user by helping transport cedar from a mill at the Skidegate Industrial Site to their carving shed. While our role was a small one, we recognize the significance of every step in the journey that brings these cultural materials into the hands of Xaayda (Haida) artists.

It is a privilege to contribute in a practical way to work that is deeply connected to our people, our history, and our future. The continuation of Xaayda giinaa.ah (Haida cultural ways) is strengthened when we all play our part.

It was our pleasure to attend both Haida Days in Gaw Tlagée last week and Skidegate Days July 18 in HlGaagilda this summer.

On behalf of the CEO and staff, háw’aa│hawaa to everyone who stopped by the HaiCo booth to visit with us. We greatly appreciated the time people took to share their ideas, experiences, questions, critiques, and support. These conversations help shape our work and ensure we continue moving forward in a way that reflects the priorities and values of our communities.

Congratulations again to Svea Poulson and Charlotte Marks, the winners of our cash door prizes. We would also like to give a special shout out to Gordy Jones, who kindly brought hot coffee to the team during a cool and drizzly day in Gaw Tlagée. Your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated and certainly helped keep the team warm and energized.

We look forward to continuing these important conversations at our upcoming HaiCo Haida Laas community engagement sessions. Join us on October 5th at Kwiiyaans Community Hall in Gaw Tlagée and October 6 at Naagudgiikyaganags (Small Hall) in HlGaagilda for an open house, dinner, and presentations. We will also be participating in the upcoming OMVC and SBC Annual Open Houses when the dates are announced.

We are grateful for the strong interest we've received in locally sourced lumber from Xaayda Gwaay (Haida Gwaii).

As we continue working toward the goals outlined in HaiCo's Strategic Plan and Transformation Plan, it's encouraging to see community members, builders, contractors, and organizations choosing products that help keep more economic value on Xaayda Gwaay (Haida Gwaii).

These photos show bundles of kiln-dried, planed, and structurally graded lumber ready for sale and delivery. Available products include Haida Gwaii ts’ahl (pine) and imported Douglas fir, providing an opportunity to build with materials that have a direct connection to the lands and communities of Xaayda Gwaay (Haida Gwaii).

We are proud to be part of creating sustainable economic opportunities while supporting responsible use of local resources for current and future generations.
