Qualifying businesses can apply Monday April 27th. In the meantime you are encouraged to gain access to your CRA business online so if you have not registered it is highly advised that you do this week. That said ... the spreadsheet they provide is over done cumbersome and may be deeply flawed by causing a duplication of amounts. Pm is you need help.

The CEWS will be processed at the payroll program (RP) account level, so you will have to file a separate application for each RP account.

It came to my attention last evening that a woman in the Toronto area is using my business name. I get it ... it is a cool name but it is mine and mine alone formally registered to me in 2014 Canada wide and with Revenue Canada. Please be aware that there is no affiliation with her what so ever. I have contacted her requesting that she remove it from her website, facebook, LinkedIn and any other materials. Protect yourselves people and do a search periodically to ensure your property is not being used by someone else.

Did you know .... there have been many changes to the Employment Standards act over the last couple of years. The Ontario Government nor the ESA make any effort to ensure that Registered Employers have the most up to date information. This could easily be done done but they don't. Hiring a full-time HR person to stay on top is prohibitive to all small business. It is your responsibility, as an employer, to check the website regularly and have the most up to date information. You also must ensure it is posted on display and accessible in the work place. Not knowing does not exempt your liability and it is never good to find out the hard way as noncompliance can be very costly. I am going to blog out a few of the rules that I feel are often overlooked. With the number of Compliance Officers that have been hired to force compliance we must all be diligent. I am going to blog out some of the ones I think could trip up the best of us.
