Congratulations to Lt Peter Aitken, FF Max Cahill and our mutual aid partner FF Tristen Ching from Eastern Kings FD on taking home first place for the second year in a row at the Firefighters Relay Competition.

Thanks to Kensington FD for putting on this event showing all the first class talent in our island departments and to all the contestants who threw the gear on to compete!

Today Souris Fire Department, along with numerous other departments and agencies es**rted Jenna Croucher and Mike MacKenzie home. It was a very emotional afternoon as they made their way from Saint John across two provinces. Our thoughts have been with the families and friends of the paramedics since Tuesday and will remain for some time.

Thank you to all the motorists who stopped and patiently waited for the motorcade to pass. Those few moments of your time mean an immense amount to the families of the first responders.

To the spectators that lined the streets, thank you for coming out to help bring these amazing medics home. It truly shows how loving this island is.

Islanders may see an increased number of emergency vehicles on the roads today.

Fire and police services will be es**rting our fallen paramedics home starting this afternoon. RCMP will also provide es**rt to the fallen patient.

The procession is for designated vehicles only, to ensure safety of all involved. As a sign a respect, we encourage drivers to pull over, stop and let the procession pass.

We offer our deepest condolences. We continue to keep everyone affected by this tragedy in our thoughts.

A massive thank you to Souris Co-op Food Market for the donations of FORTY cases of water! Yes, 4-0 cases!

Bottled water is just as vital to the water in the tanks of our fire trucks as it keeps us hydrated and cool during training and on scene operations. With the summer heat ahead it is easy to go through multiple cases on one call so this donations is greatly appreciated!
