Shortly after midnight SGFD was dispatched for two seperate incidents involving electrical fires. Both incidents were cleared without injury or property damage. Manitoba Hydro is on scene clearing trees from around power lines.

At 8:02 p.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, loonie to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorm Location: West of Brandon. Motion: Moving east at 30 km/h Hazards: Wind: damaging (90 - 110 km/h) Hail: loonie to ping pong ball size (2.5 to 4.5 cm) Rain: heavy (15 - 50 mm) # # # Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Large hail may cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

As you enjoy your barbecue today, please keep these grilling safety tips in mind:
🔥 Keep your grill at least 3 metres (10 feet) away from your home, deck railings, and anything that can burn. 🔥 Never leave a lit grill unattended. 🔥 Keep children and pets a safe distance from the grill. 🔥 Clean grease and fat buildup regularly to help prevent flare-ups. 🔥 Keep a spray bottle of water nearby for small flare-ups (charcoal grills) or simply close the lid on a gas grill to help reduce flames. Never use water on a grease fire. 🔥 Have a fire extinguisher close by and know how to use it. 🔥 Ensure your propane connections are secure and check for leaks before lighting your grill.
