Karen Sawyer
Karen was a lifer here at Kwik Way . Many of you knew her. If my calculations are correct she worked for Ron and Susan Arnold for almost 30 years. Plus 6 years for me.
She was so much more than an employee. She knew everyone by name and if she didn't she gave you one. She made you feel like you belonged. She welcomed countless customers with a smile, and made every shift one to remember. You never knew where the day would go but you always looked forward to it. It may be full of laughter, her witty or inappropriate comments, her legendary no nonsense attitude. And normally all before the middle of the shift. One thing for sure it was never boring. What happens at staff Christmas parties stays at staff Christmas parties.
She kept you on your toes. She loved what she did and it showed. Everyone enjoyed every minute working with her because she made work feel less like work. She wasn't afraid to joke around, be a little crude and rude when the moment called for it. And definitely wasn't afraid to tell it like it was. She had a sense of humor that was unforgettable but always authentically her.
The younger staff- many young enough to be her grand kids- learned so much from her. She showed them what hard work, dedication and pride in your job looked like. She taught by example in everything she did. She worked hard and expected others to do the same.
She left a mark on every one that had the privilege of working with her. Her laughter, her honesty, her strength, and larger then life personality will never be forgotten by any staff that has ever worked with her.
Rest easy Karen. You deserve it.
