When I first arrived in Newfoundland, I had no idea what to expect.
I opened my room door and found this waiting for me.
A handwritten note, a Tim Hortons gift card, and a warm winter jacket.
The jacket was a lifesaver; it kept me warm, but honestly, what stayed with me all these years was the note.
Someone I'd never met had taken a few minutes to make a complete stranger feel welcome.
That simple act of kindness reminded me that starting over in a new place doesn't have to feel so lonely.
Years later, I still remember how that made me feel.
It's one of the reasons I care so much about helping newcomers today. It hasn't always been easy, but somehow, through the highs and the lows, this place has a way of surprising you.
If you're already in Newfoundland, what's one act of kindness you'll never forget?
If you're planning your move here, what's something you're most looking forward to? ❤️
