While today was not our best day in terms of performance and scores, I am still endlessly proud of this horse.

Jet is highly sensitive. He has big emotions and, sometimes, big reactions to things that may seem completely benign to others. We have worked through a lot of that in our time together and, through that, have developed a partnership that is truly unlike any other I’ve ever had with another horse.

Today, he had a very challenging time dealing with some of his triggers. Spectators saw some of what that can look like, but what they maybe couldn’t see was how hard he was fighting to do what I was asking of him, despite being in an extremely heightened state.

Yes, he still managed to win some ribbons, but having him try that hard for me despite everything he was feeling is worth more than any ribbon ever will be.

He truly is a horse of a lifetime ❤️

This little lady exceeded all of my expectations today. All I have wanted this year is for her to feel relaxed and confident. There have been times when it’s felt like she may never feel that way again. After taking a big step back, listening to what she was trying to tell me, and then slowly building her back up, she stepped back into the show ring today. She finished the day with some of her highest test scores yet and was champion of the Open Intro, Open Training level, and Overall Open divisions.

Jet once again surpassed my expectations this weekend, finishing champion of the entire dressage division and champion of the open general performance division. More importantly, he was calm and focused when stepping into the busy Junior hacks for the first time with Claire - and ended up pinning 2nd with her in both show hack and pleasure.

There were many wins for team Rainbow Riders NL this weekend that had nothing to do with ribbons. I am so proud of the entire team and how they constantly show up for each other. I am very lucky to be surrounded by such talented and kind equestrians.

Huge thank you to Scott, Jodi, Steph, and the whole Wesgate Park Equestrian Centre team for putting off a phenomenal event. You are so welcoming and supportive. We truly love coming to your show every year. We already can’t wait for next year!

And finally, a huge thank you to Angela O'Connell for having us sleep over for the weekend. It brought back such wonderful memories and felt a lot like coming home ❤️

First real Spring day for Newfoundland today 😍☀️

Ellie was a star today! We had a very successful ride in the arena by herself and then went on her first solo trail ride of the season. She was quite nervous at times but she is constantly getting better able to manage in those moments. We are both very happy we are heading into nicer weather!

A raw of our course in the mock show this morning to finish off an amazing 4 day clinic with !

Both Ellie and Jet surpassed my expectations over and over this weekend . I am incredibly grateful for both of these partnerships ❤️

This course was a highlight for me this weekend. There are many little wins in this video but my favourite I think is how much she was waiting for me & letting me guide her. Ellie spends a lot of her life running in overdrive. But more and more lately shes trusting me enough that when I ask her to slow down, she listens. & I am pretty proud of that. I’m also incredibly proud of her.

Plus my friend Ruth told me she has “a remarkable topline” and that’s basically the best compliment she could have given me so I’m putting that at the top of my list of wins for the weekend.

Looking forward to next time and to putting everything we learned to practice!
