Every Evolve cohort, someone tells us they almost didn't apply because they didn't feel ready.

You're ready when you have a problem you care about and a willingness to put it in front of real customers.

Evolve is seven weeks of customer validation. You don't need a product or revenue yet, just a problem worth solving.

The next cohort starts October 1 and runs in person in St. John's on Thursdays, 5 to 7 p.m. Sessions are recorded, so missing one during a busy fall won't hold you back.

Get your application in by September 11: https://www.genesiscentre.ca/evolve

Canada's YEY Awards name the country's top ten entrepreneurs aged 30 and under. We can think of a few people around here who'd look right at home on that list.

You probably can too. Nominating takes about two minutes, and it closes Monday, July 20. Winners get flown to Vancouver and Whistler in September for two days of events.

If someone came to mind while you read this, that's your nominee: https://yeyawards.com/

The kids are three weeks into summer vacation. How's the home office holding up?

If your workday now comes with a soundtrack, The Dock has a quiet desk waiting downtown. Space to actually finish something, walking trails nearby when you need a break, and yes, it's air conditioned, for the handful of days a year St. John's decides to have a summer.

A weekly pass is $75. One week, full desk access, no commitment. Find full details and additional membership packages at https://www.genesiscentre.ca/the-dock

The application deadline is September 11. Apply at https://www.genesiscentre.ca/evolve.

Wondering if Genesis Membership is for you?

It doesn't matter how far along you are, idea stage or deep into product development. If you're a tech founder in Newfoundland & Labrador who can show us three things, we want to hear from you:

➜ You've found a real problem.
You're validating it with the people who feel it most.

➜ You're moving.
You're building, and changing course when the evidence points that way.

➜ You're open to feedback.
You ask for input, act on it, and want to be part of a community.

If this sounds like you, learn more and schedule a chat at https://www.genesiscentre.ca/membership.

CoLab Software brought Newfoundland and Labrador's tech community together this weekend for the first annual TLC Memorial Softball Tournament, in memory of Terri Lynn Coole. Local teams played in her honour, and the spirit she was known for carried the whole weekend. We were on canteen duty Saturday afternoon, keeping the snacks and cold drinks coming for players and spectators. Congratulations to CoLab on a tournament that clearly meant a lot to a lot of people.

Genesis Residency surrounds founders building venture-scale companies with people who've done it before.

That group is the Genesis Founders' Council, the founders and investors behind some of Newfoundland & Labrador's best-known tech companies.

Residency is our highest-tier founder program and the most concentrated support we offer. The Council has been where these teams are now, and brings experience and accountability to the work. What they've built shows how far a company can go from here.

The inaugural Council:
Adam Keating, Co-Founder & CEO, CoLab
Brendan Brothers, Co-Founder, Verafin
Brett Vokey, Founder & CEO, BreatheSuite
Holly Hill, Co-Founder & CEO, SiftMed
Josh Green, Co-Founder & CEO, Mysa
Sarah Murphy, Partner, Pelorus VC

Our first cohort: Audyse Technology, GroundControl, OmaScan, and Verlo.
