T-Minus30, a free 30-day AI builder sprint from Genesis, lifts off TODAY at 3:30 p.m., as part of the techNL Summit. RSVP by noon and we’ll email you an invitation from our partners at techNL that’s worth clearing your whole afternoon for.

First up at the launch, Jan Mertlik from Get Building will lead a workshop on the latest AI tools. Even if you’re already building every chance you get, this stuff is changing so fast there’s bound to be something you haven’t tried. And if you’ve never made anything with AI, you’re in the right place.

After that, we’ll walk you through how the sprint works, and you can meet other people taking part. You don’t have to commit to the 30 days to come, but we’d bet you’ll leave wanting to.

The launch is free, and you don’t need a Summit pass. See you this afternoon at the St. John's Convention Centre.

Genesis is launching T-Minus30, a free 30-day AI builder sprint that challenges participants to set a goal, explore AI tools, and turn an idea into something they can share with the community.

Whether you're a student, healthcare professional, entrepreneur, or simply curious about AI, you don't need coding experience or even a fully formed idea to get involved.

🚀 The sprint kicks off October 19 at the techNL Summit with a free, public launch event featuring an AI tools workshop.

Participants will have access to AI credits, collaborative build sessions, and a community of fellow builders, with the opportunity to showcase their work at Demo Night on November 25.

The Dock by Genesis rents its boardroom on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 495 Water Street in downtown St. John’s. There’s space for up to 12, and the room comes set up with AV, a whiteboard and fast Wi-Fi. You also get parking, tea and coffee, and use of the kitchen and lounge. Take a half or full day.

How far could your build go?

T-Minus30 is a free 30-day AI builder sprint from Genesis. It starts October 19 at the techNL Summit and ends November 25 at Demo Night, where everyone who submits shows what they made to a full room at the St. John's Farmers' Market.

You pick the goal: a working demo, a product that solves a real problem, or a first run at paying customers. You set the pace. Nobody's tracking your hours.

Not a hackathon. Not a competition. Thirty days to take a project further than you'd get on your own, with AI credits, coaching, and Open Builds twice a week. We designed it with the people already bringing builders together here: Get Building, the Student Design Hub, make @ mun, CTS-NL, and Unpossible NL.

Already building? Take what you've started further. Never touched the tools? Start here. Solo or with a team, no idea or coding experience needed.

You can name the problem. It's the process that's been breaking the same way for years at work, the gap you've already patched with your own tool, or the one you spotted on a co-op term and figured wasn't yours to fix.

You have one week to finally do something about it. Applications for Genesis' Evolve program close next Monday, September 21, and the form takes about ten minutes.

You already think technology can fix the problem you've named. In Evolve, you test whether the people who live with the problem agree, whether they'd pay for the fix, and whether there are enough of them to build a company on.

The fall cohort starts October 8: Thursdays 5-7 p.m., in person in St. John's, $200, free for current students.

The people closest to a problem rarely think they're the ones to solve it. Seven weeks in Evolve is enough to find out if you are.

Genesis has a new role, and it exists because founders here needed it.

Enough Newfoundland and Labrador startups are now moving past early traction that the questions they bring us have changed. Less "how do I find my first customer" and more "how do I close this round, and who do I hire next." Genesis Residency launched in May to answer those questions. Since then, the demand has kept growing.

So we've created a Senior Manager, Programs position to lead Residency, the Entrepreneur-in-Residence network and Genesis' Startup Funds. Kristen Marumoto is the first to hold it.

Most recently Kristen led programs at Memorial Centre for Entrepreneurship, where she worked with student founders, and before that at the City of Barrie's Small Business Centre. Earlier, she spent two years as Executive Director of Durham's Neighbourhood Association of Angel Investors, connecting early-stage founders with their first equity raise. She's also co-founder of Insights to Markets, a consulting firm that helps founders validate ideas and build products people want. Her first startup job was Operations Manager at PUSH, a Toronto wearable tech company later acquired by WHOOP. She knows what a startup looks like from the inside, and it still shapes how she works with founders.
